This free-agent Arsenal rumour I could actually believe to be true

Considering that Arsenal sold Kieran Gibbs, the Ox and Gabriel (and nearly Mustafi as well!), and disposed of Carl Jenkinson and Cohen Brammall on loan, we could be forgiven for thinking that the Gunners were getting a bit short on defenders at the moment.

Wenger’s short term solution appears to be trying to move players from other positions to fill the gaps, but today it has been revealed that our old left-back Bacary Sagna was released by Manchester City at the end of last season and is currently priced at 3/1 to head back to make a sensational return the Emirates.

The BetStars director Ian Marmion said: “Arsenal are 3/1 contenders to snap up 34-year-old Bacary Sagna, who is currently a free agent after being released by Manchester City,”

“Former French International Sagna spent seven seasons with the Gunners and won the FA Cup in 2014 before moving north to join the Etihad side.”

“Serie A side Torino are favourites to sign Sagna and are priced at 5/2 with BetStars to recruit him to replace Davide Zappacosta, who made a deadline day switch to Chelsea,” Marmion added.

Wenger has history of bringing ex-Gunners back to the fold, with Matthieu Flamini and Thierry Henry being the latest examples, and with our defensive crisis right now I can easily see Sagna being the next one.

Can you?
