Three Arsenal players confirmed as moving to Serie A

So the big Arsenal clearout continues as the club has officially confirmed that three players have completed their moves to different Serie A clubs. Yesterday the The Napoli president Aurelio de De Laurentiis wasn’t so sure that they would sign David Ospina, but it has now been confirmed on the Arsenal website that a one-year loan deal had been finalised. They reported: Goalkeeper David Ospina has joined Serie A side Napoli on a season-long loan.

David joined us from Nice in 2014 after six seasons in Ligue 1, and has made 70 appearances.

He was our goalkeeper in the 2017 Emirates FA Cup final win over Chelsea. He has won two FA Cups and an FA Community Shield during his time with us.

It was also finally confirmed that the Costa Rican international Joel Campbell has joined the newly promoted minnows Frosinone Calcio, who are only having their second-ever season in the top flight after winning through via the play-offs.

The surprising third departure is the promising young striker Stephy Mavdidi who has been a prolific scorer in the Arsenal reserves but never quite made it to the Gunners first team squad due to Eddie Nketiah eclipsing him in impressing Wenger. The 20 year-old, who has represented England at every youth level, has now joined Juventus but will commence in their newly-formed “B” team who will play in Serie C.

Well good luck to them all. I doubt if we will see any more departures now as Carl Jenkinson is out injured and we are unlikely to find a buyer that will pay his wages. His career seems to have fizzled out completely after being left on the bench at Birmingham for most of last season…
