Unai Emery gives an update on whether Alexandre Lacazette plays against Sheff Utd

Alexandre Lacazette back in full training and may feature against Sheff Utd

Alexandre Lacazette was back in full training on Thursday and according to Unai Emery may feature against Sheff Utd.

The Frenchman injured his ankle in the North London derby against Tottenham and has since been sidelined. However, he has fully recovered and is available for selection.

Speaking in the pre-match press conference yesterday Emery said this about Lacazette

“Today is Lacazette’s first training back with us,” Unai Emery said on Thursday. “He finished it well and he’s feeling well with his injuries. Tomorrow we will be training again and he will be with us. We will decide.

“The most important thing is that first he is training, then secondly it’s whether he can be with us and it depends how he can feel in the next days training with us, whether his ankle is not giving him any more problems.

“It’s positive for us that he’s started training and that he’s a possibility for Monday. I don’t know whether he’s ready for 90 minutes or on the bench. We’ll decide that over the next days, but it’s very important for him to come back to training with us.

Knowing how conservative Emery can be I doubt he will be risking Laca as a starter but I do expect him to be named as a sub. This is a massive boost for the club and fans to have the 28-year-old back fit and ready.

Lacazette, along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is an integral part of the Arsenal forward line and has been missed. Very soon we will have the strongest possible Arsenal eleven that Emery can field. This has not been the case for a very long time.

  1. Welcome back Laca, i don’t expect him to start against Sheffield Utd, a sub would be better, Emery don’t need to rush the guy.

  2. Lacazette is needed to tire Sheffield’s defenders out. Aubameyang is a great striker, but Lacazette is the hardest working one

I’m also waiting to see the international match effects and the long break effects on Pepe. I hope he learned some tricks from Zaha

  3. We will all forces for Sheffield fort. Times have changed Indeed; mentality, philosophy, tactic… We dont have any with Emery, always a drama, no excitement. With Wenger, we were confident on every trip, with a goal to son, lots of belief.. No more even AT Home, sad…

  4. We have 3 matches quite close together so if he can give Aubameyang some relief that would be helpful

    Great to see Lacazzette back

  5. I know we badly need him but at the same time I don’t want him to be rushed,I’d rather he’d miss Monday game and then be back 100% healed and fit for more difficult games and not lose him again because he was rushed!tuff decision!
