Unai Emery provides an update on Dani Ceballos injury.

Ceballos picks up a “small injury” in 1-1 draw with Vitoria in Europa League.

One of the low points of Arsenal’s game against Vitoria was the injury that Dani Ceballos picked up.

Ceballos, who had been picked to start the game signalled to the bench on the 51st minutes that he wanted to come off with a suspected hamstring strain.

The injury is a blow for Arsenal as Ceballos is one of the few creative players available to Emery.

However, when asked about the injury, Emery allayed fears by confirming a scan will be done to determine the extent of the injury. He also added that his thoughts are that it is a small injury.

“Yes, we are going to wait for the analysis tomorrow but at the beginning, I think it is a small injury.” Emery stated.

Although Ceballos has failed to score or assist in the league since the first two games, he remains an integral part of the team.

Creativity is a huge issue for Arsenal and losing the 23-year-old would be a huge loss. The last thing Emery needed was to start losing players at such a critical time. It could also mean a quicker return for the disgraced Granit Xhaka.

Xhaka is not as creative as Ceballos but he is far more of a playmaker than some of his teammates. That said, he is not a long term solution to the lack of creativity in the midfield.

Hopefully, the Spaniard will be out for a short period of time. Otherwise, Emery may have to dip into the tarnsfer market in January.
