Unai Emery schedules talks with Granit Xhaka as Newcastle plot to sign him

Granit Xhaka set to sit down with Unai Emery as Newcastle United hover.

Unai Emery is set to hold clear-the-air talks with Granit Xhaka when the midfielder returns from international duty, according to a report in the Chronicle.

The Swiss international has not featured for the Gunners since he got into an angry confrontation with the club’s fans in their match against Crystal Palace.

Xhaka may be moved on in the next transfer window after he was stripped of the club’s captaincy and Newcastle have an interest in him.

Steve Bruce is an apparent admirer of the former Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder and he has been keeping a close eye on his situation at the Emirates.

Bruce is one of the managers who aren’t afraid to be audacious, he has lured the likes of Ben Arfa to his Hull City team before and he is looking to pull off another coup with Xhaka.

It is unclear what the scheduled talks between Emery and Xhaka would be about but it is obvious that his future would be discussed and one wonders if Emery will start him against Southampton.

I would suggest that right now, these alleged schedules talks, could be anything. They could be about his integration back into the first team. They could be about a possible transfer in January. Or, they could be just a general sit down to see how he is doing mentally and emotionally.

Whatever the talks are about the sooner this mess is cleared up and put to bed the better it is for everyone.

  1. He’s not going to win us the league but he’s our second best midfielder behind Guendouzi. I’m not saying it’s because got great talent I’m saying it because the others are so poor. Ceballos and Torriera just physically aren’t up to it constantly over a season, AMN head has gone and Emery won’t play chambers or Luiz as a dm.Willock is a talent but we need better now not in two years to get to where we want to be. Apart from Guendouzi and Willock I would be tempted to sell the rest come summer and rebuild the midfield with athletic and technically gifted young talent.

    1. Ghendouzi is no where near our best midfielder, in fact he’s the weakest link in that middle,is like u pay mptr attention to his hair than his actual ability!dude doesn’t sniff danger, very weak in tackles, unnecessarily hold into the ball, there by kilimg our quick transition, he’s off the ball movement is laughable, abeg don’t make me laugh

      1. Guendouzi our weakest link? When I think anything Arsenal can’t make me laugh again, thanks man for making me laugh.

  2. Emery HSS shown how weak he is mam management, the truth is that the matter could never has gotten to this shameful level if Wenger is still our manager, just like the Ramsey and koscienly issues, intact all these events r teaching ud how valuable Wenger have bn to this club!

  3. SELL Xhaka Pleeeeeeeeease

I’m happy with Ceballos,Torreira and Guendouzi. We can play Niles, Chambers in midfield too

But Xhaka, Mustafi, Ozil need to go!

    1. Innit, you want two players, in Ozil and Mustafi, who have hardly featured in our miserable season so far, to be sold – and yet, your happy to rely on Guendouzi, who has been one of the most regular players in said disatrous season.

You also might have faith in Torreira, Ceballos, Niles and Chambers, but UE certainly hasn’t seen them in the same light and keeps playing them out of position when he does select them.

Xhaka? Let’s see what happens tomorrow.
