Video – Excellent short feature on the Arsenal captaincy and Granit Xhaka

A brilliant video that looks at the Arsenal captaincy and Granit Xhaka.

We all know what happened with Granit Xhaka and his fall out with the fans and being stripped of the captaincy. This video from Sky Sports looks at that with commentary from the likes of Paul Merson, Rob Holding and even AFTV’s Robbie Lyle.

I really enjoyed how it started, how they broke down the last ten captains before Xhaka. The seven-minute feature also discusses 27-year-old’s future at the club.

My only complaint is that it was not long enough. I was engrossed in it and was disappointed when if finished. I wanted more.

Anyway, have a look, I am positive you will enjoy it.

  1. Unai Emery should be careful on how he goes about in returning Granit Xhaka to the club’s senior team to play for Arsenal again after the altercation he had with the Arsenal fans at the Ems during a PL that subsequently led to the the captaincy arms taken away from him when he stubbornly failed to apologise for his cross disrespect to the Arsenal fans but instead issued a pathetic statement that falls short of a sober apology for his wrongdoing.

If Emery plays him in Arsenal match again more especially in the PL at the Ems, will the Arsenal supporters who booed him in the last Arsenal vs Crystal Palace match in the PL not boo him again probably boo him with intensity this time around than they booed him in the last Crystal Palace match? To thereby negate Emery attempt to return him to Arsenal team to play for the again. I think the best thing for both parties is for Arsenal to sell Xhaka in a pre January transfer window agreement to any top club side who want him and can meet Arsenal asking price for him. But not loan him to Newcastle in January. Save, if they’ll sign him on a permanent deal.

  3. Not sure what to make of Unai Emery’s efforts to return Granit Xhaka to the team but it does look like a very high-risk decision to me. If the fans turn on him again following a poor display that will seriously call Emery’s decision making into question. Better to take this kind of risk away from home.
