Video – Rob Holding grabs a goal on his return to first team action

What a return to action for Rob Holding, in his first start in 2019 he capped off a great performance with a headed goal on the 70th minute.

It was thoroughly deserved, he had put in fine display up to that point and a goal seemed inevitable. He has been viewed as some sort of defensive saviour ever since he got injured and his performance this evening appears to justify that opinion of him.

Holding now has to be in the running for a place in the team to face Man Utd next Monday night, I mean you cannot do much better than score a goal and keep a clean sheet on your return to first-team action.

Oh, he was also captain when he scored.

  1. That was nice. Bellarin too. Our defense looks sorted. Chambers(3 starts and 3 clean sheets all are wins) Mustafi (2 starts, 2 clean sheets and all are wins) the first team players will now feel threatened and improve and hope Emery will play with the best rather than his favorites!
One thing noted, Ozil and Mustafi so far this season, have done everything right.

  2. The last time I’ve been chuffed like this was when we beat ManC under Wenger, playing fearless football. I’m aware this is League cup against Nottingham Forest who beat us 4-2 a couple of years ago, but I enjoyed the game on the pitch and to see our lads express themselves.

  3. Very nice to watch and a very good performance against Forest. This shows the level where we are and where we can dominate. Well done Emery. Sorry Forest.

  4. At this point, I will take Mustafi over Sokratis……

Chambers must start against Manchester United.

Holding, Bellerin and Tierney will improve this team when they are 100 percent fit

  5. Yeah it looks all sorted to us, Bel Hold, chamb, tierney, although I dont mind Chambers at RB,The problem is Ozi, does Emery think the same way?? I doubt it.

  6. Ramsey’s message to him was nice when he called him skip. Oxlade called him bro.

Chambers right now looks to have that handy utility player tag and managers like to have that around. Hopefully he gets a shot next to Holding, he knows these guys better than Luiz does.

Tierney, he had a good game and now am really looking forward to seeing our fullbacks getting back out onto that pitch.

Willock needs to keep pushing, places aren’t locked down in that area.

Martinelli, Saka, bit of a fight heating up, others say Nelson, but I think he’s a little behind at the minute, early doors however. He needs to have a clear plan more, take risks yes but don’t be too hopeful on working the last pass – or be holding onto the ball too long, this is part of what done Iwobi in. Saka is direct, he has good control and could hold on to it more but he likes to be direct in his thinking, Martinelli has that too.

Best wishes to Smith R, have a quick recovery. Smith is in the reckoning too. Young Guns of Arsenal …I’d watch that.

Holding, Mavrapanos, Saka, Martinelli, Willock, Torriera, Tierney, Pepe, Gunnndzi and two deadly strikers. We’re starting to look like we might have some depth further down the road.

  7. CHAMBERS ???? I doubt but lets give him more chances, would rather have him centrally than a full back
Against weak opposition fine but not the top top teams
