Vitoria v Arsenal match preview and score prediction

Arsenal face a tough game away at Vitoria

After yet another draw at the weekend against Wolves, Arsenal will travel to Vitoria looking for a win that would lift the mood around the Emirates.

There have been lots of off-field issues around the Gunners with the fans growing increasingly dissatisfied with on-field results, but a good showing here should buy Unai Emery and the players some respite.

Emery’s job seems to be hanging by a thread at the moment and the next two games could play an important role in his future at the Emirates.

The Spaniard has inspired Arsenal to just one win in their last five games and they come into this game with no wins in their last three matches.

Arsenal is underachieving greatly when one takes a look at their current squad, but you don’t have to look too much to see the part of the team that isn’t pulling their weight.

Gabriel Martinelli is scoring the goals and leading the line well in the Europa League. The defence and midfield, however, seem to be holding the team back at the moment.

After being rested for recent Arsenal games, Nicolas Pepe has been joined by Alexandre Lacazette in the travelling squad. But the defence still looks all familiar with the likes of Shkodran Mustafi, Sokratis etc. still travelling.

With one eye on the game with Leicester, Arsenal has to win this game to give themselves a needed morale boost ahead of that showdown.

If the defence and midfield can pull their weight Arsenal could easily get something from this game. However, Vitoria is a side that can cause an upset and almost won at the Emirates. They simply will not let Arsenal roll over them.

All things considered, a draw looks a good pick.

Predicted score

Vitoria 2-2 Arsenal

  1. LoL, you are just so Arsenal, a draw is our most expected score if we not a lost!

Kroenke will sack Emery using us fans; or keep him to not pay fee to sack him.

Bayern do not want Emery nor Allegri nor Mourhino; they want a winner: Wenger, to win CL with style & class, bring Bayern shine. Perfect man for perfect club and squad !

  2. Wenger at Bayern would not have to be pained by playing and beating his club Arsenal, we not in CL nor any hope for top4 the way things are shipping up.

This Victoria game means nothing, nor Leicester we will lose at badly, beside than to confirm the reaity of this coach. But Kroenke hired him and keeps him all this time when he should not be on this bench weeks ago nor ever! Just a bad casting all the way.

It is not Emery fault to have his style and limit, that’s just what he has to offer, why Kroenke keeps him is neither his fault!

In result, after 5 games, title was over with and 5 games later, 4th place hope for good.

Leicester do not play, they rest and focused on kicking our asses in 3 days! Chelsea has this way in them where you know they will win and a dream be surprise! So confident and enjoying their game. So, we are done for 4th spot ! 9 points away and gap will just get deeper as we average 1,5 point per game, and less than 1/2 point lately. They on 2 points average!

I guess Kroenke goal is to win Europa in order to make champions league, that’s why he got and keeps Emery. Win it or finish at least 6th o try next year again!

  3. 0-2 to Arsenal

Vitoria are bottom of the table and we are 9 points at the top so we have a great chance of getting 12 points today

I want to win the group early so that we can rest are top players in the remaining group matches

    1. A clean sheet, Innit??!! Playing against an ex spud, who struck first at the Emirates….
I’ll be amazed if we don’t concede!

  4. Let me get this straight:

Xhaka was captain for little over a month, against pretty much everyone’s opinion.

Exactly 5 weeks later he was stripped off his undeserved captaincy.

How stupid does this make Emery look?

  5. Arsenal playing away to Victoria Guimaneas tonight in the Europa League Cup matchday no 4 will roll them over in the match by beating them and secure an early qualification to the knock out stage with 2 games to spare.

    1. It’s not tonight, it’s this afternoon, in half an hour to be exact. Would hate you to miss it 😳

  6. I think the stripping of Xhaka from wearing the Arsenal captaincy arm band was not down to Emery being stupid to have made him the Arsenal captain. But I’ll say it was down to Xhaka’s stupidity who got the captaincy arm band but he allowed the glamour that goes with it to get into his head when he lost discipline and self control to not restrained himself by abusing the Arsenal fans at the Ems. And his failure to tender an image repair apology to them on the social media for misbehaving badly to them immediately after the match compounded matters for him at the club which is seeing him now being turned to Arsenal outcast.
