Wenger admits he needs to buy….. Wanyama?

Why Arsenal MUST Move for This Midfield Enforcer! by AT

The Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has spoken out in regards to his plans for the January transfer window. With Arsenal facing a severe midfield crisis heading into the new year, the Frenchman has conceded that his side could do with some strengthening in order to maintain their push for the Premier League title.

Speaking to Bein Sport, as reported by the Daily Express, Wenger said: “Yes, we are short and the number of games we have to play in January are very important. God knows how we will come out of the Christmas period, with a lot of demand on the physical front so we need to do something. I would love to give you names, downstairs on the bar with a coffee but not in front of your camera.”

For many Arsenal fans, the news that Le Prof has admitted that he needs to bring in reinforcements will come as a great relief, given that this is a man who has the reputation of being stubborn in previous situations such as this one. Now while he was careful not to mention any names, media reports suggest that he is looking at Southampton’s Victor Wanyama, failing which he will move for PSG’s Adrien Rabiot.

For me, Arsenal should do everything in their power to sign the Southampton man. With Francis Coquelin out injured, what the team needs is an out-and-out ball winner. Someone who’s natural game is to sit back, be alert towards danger and make quick interceptions and strong tackles. In addition to having all these traits, the Kenyan international also comes with Premier League experience and is also technically sound.

The Daily Mirror reported earlier that a fee of £15 million might well be enough to force the Saints’ hand in the sale of the midfield enforcer. With Mathieu Flamini’s contract set to expire in the summer, Wenger surely needs to bring in another defensive midfielder and Victor Wanyama really seems to be an ideal choice.
