Wenger’s changes to Arsenal team for Bournemouth?

Arsene Wenger might decide to keep faith with the Arsenal players who got beat in our last Premier League match which ended with a 4-0 defeat away to Liverpool and could have been a lot worse if Petr Cech had played as badly as his outfield colleagues, but somehow I doubt it and expect the manager to make a few changes to the team for the home game against Bournemouth tomorrow.

Wenger will have no choice but to make at least one change, because Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain started as the right sided wing back at Anfield and is no longer an Arsenal player. So in all likelihood we will see Hector Bellerin return to his natural flank and that will leave the left side to our new summer signing Sead Kolasinac who was named our player of the month for August and looks a real handful in the more advanced role of wing back.

The defence has been pretty awful so far but we do have Koscielny available again and he will surely start, although whether that be in the middle or on the left of a back three is unclear. I would have him in the middle as he is our best defender and despite his poor form so far I would go for Monreal on the left where he is more comfortable. Then it is just a question of Holding of Mustafi on the right and I would prefer to see the young Englishman given the nod in a game that should not be too difficult for him.

I would like to see Wenger react to the error strewn start to the season from Granit Xhaka by dropping the Swiss international and going for a midfield pairing of Ramsey and Coquelin, with Ozil in front in his best position as a number 10 playmaker.

That would leave two places for the forward line and surely it is time to give a rare start to olivier Giroud, the only Arsenal striker who has looked sharp so far. Play him next to Alexandre Lacazette and we have a strong combination or pace, power, movement and finishing which should be more than capable of popping the Cherries.

Cech
Holding, Koscielny, Monreal
Bellerin, Ramsey, Coquelin, Kolasinac
Ozil
Lacazette, Giroud

What do you think of this Arsenal XI for the Bournemouth game?

  1. When playing three at the back you HAVE to play a defensive midfielder for cover. Wenger was silly putting Ramsey (who is attacking midfielder) and Xhaka (who is box to box, a great player but terrible defensively) in the hold. He HAS to play a DM and the only choices are Coquelin, Elneny, or Kolasinac (apparently can play there). If hes not playing a DM you cant play three at the back… simple as that…

  2. Cech
    Bellerin Mustifi Koscielny Kolasinac
    Coquelin Ramsey
    Iwobi Ozil Welbeck
    Lacazette

Subs: Xhaka, Sanchez, Ospina, Giroud, Holding, Theo, Chambers

The copied 3 – 4 – 2 – 1 system is not working especially against teams who will for 80% of the game sit back, wait for us to make an error in midfield and punish us.

    – Mustafi – he must be hungry for game time and may want to prove himself after been almost offloaded
    – Sanchez is tired and must feature from the bench. Same goes for OG who played a lot.
    – Ozil is in good form (on international duty), play him for 60 minutes and see whether he can influence the game the same way and in his best position not on the wing!
    – Xhaka needs to sought himself out on the bench, though knowing Wonga he will play the player even when out of form.
    – If Iwobi cant play in such games, when will he ever play and develop.

  3. Play some of our kids who are hungry and might put the shirt on with pride. You no what give jack a game coz he can’t be any worse then this lot

  4. If Arsenal stick with three centre backs then Mustafi must be considered a far better choice for the third birth alongside Kos and Holding rather then Monreal.Kolasinac has to come back in at left eing-back and Bellerin revert to the right.Midfield is a very different matter.Arsenal still desperately need a proper defensive central player.Ozil in this current side cannot be considered anything more than a luxury. All of Bournemouth’s creativity will come down the flanks so it’s necessary to put players on to the pitch who are prepared to fulfill their defensive duties. This also means that unless Ramsey can work out that he’s playing in midfield not as a number 10 he has no place on the team either.

  5. I say change the formation. 4-1-2-3 4 at the back then have coq wilshire or elnany as a DMF 2 CMS in ozil ramsey xaka then from 3 sanchez lacca welbeck/walcott. We need someone to protect our defence I think coq would flourish with that job just tackeling and giving the ball to rambo and ozil to pish forward

  6. Keep the 3-4-3, but for the first time this season, use players in their natural positions, and drop out of form players:

    Ospina
    Chambers Mertesacker Koscielny
    Bellerin Elneny Coquelin Kolasinac
    Nelson Lacazette Sanchez

    1. I like your formation and Cech needs to be benched as he has done some errors. I will go with Mustafi instead of Chambers (only because kosc and musta have played more games with merte) I like the midfield, the front line I don’t think that Sanchez will play so my front three will be
      Ozil…Lacazette…Iwobi

  7. With alexis, ospina and ramsey all back late and having played 2 matches I would save all 3 for our Europa league game along with our 2 Germans who should be well up for starting that. May be put all 5 on the bench along with Monreal and welbeck.

This would allow us to go 343 as follows
    Cech
    Mustafi Holding Koscielny
    Bellerin Coquelin elneny kolasinac
    Walcott Giroud Lacazette

Ospina Monreal Mertesacker ramsey ozil alexis Welbeck

    V Koln
    Ospina
    Debuchy Mertesacker Chambers
    Nelson xhaka ramsey Monreal
    Ozil alexis
    Welbeck

Cech kolasinac koscielny wilshire coquelin lacazette giroud.

  8. Cech
    Bellerin Mustafi Kos kolasnic
    Elneny Coquelin
    Reiss. Ozil. The fat one
    Lacazette

Xhaka and Ramsey need to be dropped they been useless so far, our attack should easily be enough to undo Bournemouth’s defence and if they do try to break our midfield and defence should be able to cope. Reis’s was impressive in pre season and should be given some game time, the lads fearless. Ozil plays his natural position where he can influence the game more and with good runners and a stronger midfield base he can do what he does best. 343 should be used when playing stronger teams when we need to defend more and hit teams on the break.

  9. Ozil needs to be benched for a few games his laziness is amazing. To think the amount money his getting compared with his work rate it doesnt make any sense.

  10. Wenger’s squad:

    In goal: Theo Walcott
Three at the back: Cech, Ospina, Bould(Yes, Steve Bould)
Left wing back: Bellerin, who else?
    Right wing back: Ozil
Midfield pair: Giroud and a heap of bricks
Attacking mega-trio: Jenks, Debuchy and Wheelchair

    What could go wrong?

  11. The back three of Holding-Koz-Mustafi need to be defensive with Coquelin and Kolasinac protecting them as DMF.

Best to play Ramsay wide, as he will drift in anyway and not be useful in defense. Use Sanchez on the other wing. Ozil in the middle, #10 AMF focus on possession and attack.

Lacazette and Giroud can play together in front.

    ———————–Cech———————
    Holding———-Koscielny———Mustafi
    Ramsey–Coquelin–Kolasinac–Sanchez
    ———————-Ozil————————-
    ————Lacazette—Giroud————–

    1. This is the best formation I have ever seen. You are definitely another Wenger . LB as DM , CM as WB , a striker as WB. Why not replace Cech with Welbeck.
