Which Arsenal Women are set to go out with their countries during the international break?

For die-hard Gunner Women’s fans, the Women’s Super League going on international break came at a bad time. It came just as they had found their form: after the 2-1 win over Bristol City, the Gunners were on a run of two straight wins and are now unbeaten in three of the first four league games they’ve played this season.

That said, the WSL is now on international break, and to avoid being bored, we may have to track the girls out on international duty. So which of the Arsenal women are set to represent Arsenal on international duty?

Australia: Caitlin Foord, Kyra Cooney-Cross, and Steph Catley are all set to feature for Australia in the AFC Olympics qualifiers. They have games against Iran, China, Taipei, and the Philippines.

Canada: Cloe Lacasse and Sabrina D’Angelo are set to feature in Canada’s two friendlies against Brazil. The Canadians already secured a spot in next year’s Paris Olympics.

England: Alessia Russo and Lotte Wubben Moy are the Gunners in the Lionesses squad. Beth Mead, who just returned from injury, didn’t make it. The Lionesses are to play Belgium twice in the UEFA Nations League in fixtures that act as Great Britain’s Paris Olympics qualifiers.

Republic of Ireland: The in-form Girls in Green’s captain will be hoping to channel her current form to help Ireland in their double header Nation’s League clashes with Albania. The two games will help them qualify for the Olympics.

Switzerland: Lia Walti and Noelle Maritz are in the Swiss squad to play Sweden and Spain in games that will help them win a spot in the Paris Olympics.

Spain: Our World Cup-winning defender, Laia Codina, will link up with the Spanish women’s camp for Nation’s League clashes with Italy and Switzerland. These games will help them book a spot in next year’s Paris Olympics.

Sweden: Amanda Ilestedt, Lina Hurtig, and Stina Blackstenius are set to be in the Swedish women’s squad that will face Switzerland and Italy in the Nation’s League. These games will help Sweden book a spot in next year’s Paris Olympics.

Netherlands: Vivianne Miedema returns to the Dutch women’s national team after recovering from a long-term injury that saw her miss the World Cup. Other than Miedema, Victoria Pelova is also in the Dutch squad that is to face Scotland in two games in the Nations League. Good results in these games will help them qualify for the Olympics.

Denmark: Kathrine Kuhl is in the Danish squad to play Iceland and Wales in the Nation’s League. These two games will have a say in Denmark playing in the Paris Olympics.

Norway: Frida Maanum will be hoping to help Norway dominate over France in the 2 Nation’s League games that could earn them a chance at next year’s Olympics.

Maddy Earl, Katie Read, and Freya Godfrey will also join the England U-19 team to feature in the Round 1 Euro Qualifiers.

Hopefully, all our players will have an injury-free international break so we can carry on our winning run in the WSL.
