Which of the two £22m transfer deals is better for Arsenal?

If I asked this question a few months ago I expect there would have been a unanimous answer from the Arsenal fans, but the further improvement and current excellent form of our France international striker Olivier Giroud will probably have eased the need for a player like Cavani in many of our minds.

Amazingly enough though, a report in The Express claims that £22 million could be enough to sign the PSG and Uruguay star this summer, as the French club are under pressure to offload one of their star men to help them conform with the FFP rules and Ibrahimovich is still clearly their first choice front man.

If this is true then there are likely to be many clubs after the former Napoli striker, including Atletico Madrid and Liverpool. The Merseysiders are said to be our rivals for another £22 million priced player as well, the Inter Milan and Croatia international youngster Mateo Kovacic.

This talented and promising deep lying playmaker could actually be a better use of the money for the Gunners, not because he is the better player but because central midfield is one of the areas more in need of strengthening this summer, although rumour has it that Morgan Schneiderlin is our main target for that role.

Assuming that Wenger is given a decent transfer kitty, should Arsenal try to sign Cavani as well?
