Which team will Wenger pick for Arsenal’s trip to Tottenham?

You can’t get a bigger game than this for Arsenal fans. Not only do we want to beat the Spuds in their last game at White Hart Lane, but we can also put a spanner in their bid to catch Chelsea at the top of the Premiership, and even give ourselves an outside chance of still making the Top Four.

Defeat is unthinkable, but if it does happen it would turn a very bad season into a total disaster. We need Arsene Wenger to be at his very best tactically, and pick the perfect team to frustrate Tottenham and grab a goal or two on the break.

So who will Wenger pick for our third game in seven days? The good news is that Wenger is optimistic that Laurent Koscielny will pass a fitness test to keep his place at the heart of our new three-man defence. He said this morning: He said: “The uncertainty we have is about Koscielny. The news yesterday was positive. A chance to be available.”

So here is my prediction for a defensive line-up with fast breakaway possibilities….

Cech
Gabriel – Koscielny – Holding
The Ox – Coquelin – Xhaka – Monreal
Ozil – Alexis
Giroud

I think Wenger will go with Giroud up front for the added height in the box, and I’m choosing Le Coq over Ramsey for his better defensive duties.

Who do you think Wenger will pick?

  1. A must win game for us.more coz of pride! I think that lineup vs spuds will be hammered xhaka and coq are not complementing each other. Ramsey along side xhaka is my preferred or even elneny.ill prefer throwing welbz into the lineup than giroud though

  2. off topic= yet again AW announcement who we could of signed but didn’t is and today’s player is Dele Alli ,
i think that makes every descent player in Europe that we didn’t sign but boast that we could of, embarrassing Arsen just don’t say it keep quite about it your just rubbing our noses in to it

  3. considering the form ozil is in i would rather put ox in his position, bellerin at right wing back and replace coquelan with either ramsey or el neny

    1. Anyone but Ramsey, I would even settle for Flamini coming back for just this one game lol at least he knows how to score against the Spuds.

  4. Most likely Wenger will select Ramsey over Coquelin. I wish he has the guts to drop Ozil once though.

Ozil is a talented and an unselfish player with many skills, but he cannot keep the ball too long. For a player in his position, we need a real playmaker that can hold the ball more than three touches and do not release the ball quickly to the nearest teammate.

We already have attacking players that play with the basics of football like that in the front, such as Walcott. Cazorla is still not available, so I would assign Iwobi to accompany Sanchez behind Welbeck, if I were Wenger.

    1. No….you are not wenger and so redundancy will prevail….as the cycle of mediocrity continues

  5. I can’t predict which team Wenger will select because he is unpredictable and Pathetic in his team selection at times… But I can put team here which I would like to see against Spurs

    Cech
    Gabriel Koscielny Holding

    AOC Ramsey Xhaka Bellerin

    Ozil Sanchez

    Welbeck

  6. It really doesn’t matter who we send out, If we don’t give our all and fight for the win then I can see us getting the biggest hiding we have ever had from a Spurs team.

    1. that’s a bit of a cliche. I know a few like that as well.

It really doesn’t matter who we send out:

If we don’t take our chances we will not win
If we are naive in defense we will get killed
If we let them score first it will be hard to win
If we don’t respect them we will get killed

      😉

  7. I will fear for my life should he start the error-prone-can’t-score Ramsey. With him in the squad we can easily concede early in the first half. I’d rather have any midfield combination as long as it doesn’t include Ramsey, and without him, I’m confident we can at least draw.

  8. Cech
    Gabriel-Koscielny-Holding
    Bellerin-Elneny-Xhaka-Monreal
    Ox-Ozil
    Alexis

If Koscielny is injured then push Monreal to the left side of the 3, Holding in the middle and Gibbs at LWB

    1. I don’t like Bellerin as a wingback. Was poor in the last game, makes poor decisions and poor crosses and times his runs poorly. Doesn’t fly forward when he should and stays up when he should drop back. I would chose Ox as wingback over Bellerin.
