Which U21 winners will play for Arsenal against Aston Villa?

As well as the young Gunners that won promotion to the top division this week, there have been some senior Arsenal stars involved in the underage side this season, mainly used to get their fitness and form going after an injury kept them out of action for a long spell.

And with the awful luck that Arsenal have had with injuries yet again this season there have been plenty of candidates for a game or two with Steve Gatting’s side. However, with the young Gunners facing a play-off final with Aston Villa this week I reckon that the inclusion of Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Calum Chambers and Joel Campbell was about ensuring a place in the top division as well as giving those players some valuable game time.

It worked as Arsenal beat the Aston Villa under 21s by 3-1 yesterday, with the goals coming from Chris Willock and a Stephy Mavididi brace. All of the players involved are bound to be buzzing and with the senior sides meeting on Sunday and Arsenal needing at least a point to secure an automatic Champions League place and a win to have any chance of finishing above Tottenham again, I think that Wenger will consider using some of the winners of the final.

I would love to see all of the four senior Gunners play a part in the final Premier League game this weekend, and I reckon that Coquelin, Cazorla and Campbell should start. What do you guys think?

Bob.

  1. I would love to see Cazorla play this weekend.he might start if Ozil is not fit

But Campbell and Coquelin may not get a chance to feature..
Wenger seems to prefer Elneny-Ramsey for now….
Cazorla have more chance than the others

    1. I hate that wenger is starting Ramsey over coquelin right when Coq and elneny get a balance he puts in the fraud Ramsey.
I hope coq starts with elneny and Campbell starts on the LW (but we all know Wilshere will start there), Cazorla still looked off pace in the game and calum was a beast at the back. Id actually prefer to see a calum – elneny partnership over ramsey.

      1. My starting 11 for Aston Villa game:

        Cech
        Bellerin – Gabriel – Koscielny – Gibbs
        Elneny – Coquelin
        Sanchez – Iwobi – Campbell
        Giroud

Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Monreal, Wilshere, Ramsey, Cazorla, Walcott

  2. 1. Yes. Those 4 players deserve the senior game time. But this would certainly mean Wenger overlooking Ramsey so………. it will take a minor miracle for it to happen.

Do you believe in Kharma, payback, poetic justice or whatever you want to call it?? 2 years ago, near season’s end, R. Martinez was talking smack about overtaking Arsenal for 4th place. Everton then immediately began losing games to finish their season behind Arsenal and have gone very steadily downhill ever since. Do you suppose he regrets those statements now????

    1. I used to want martinez to replace wenger SOOO bad just shows how much I know haha

    2. @Mohawk..
I remember when we were so desperate to offload Wenger that many wanted Martinez to get Arsenal job, funny how things can change in football…

If left alone,Martinez might lead Everton to relegation next season like he did at Wigan…

        1. @NY Gunner..
Yes,and funny enough he almost won the FA cup this season too…
I always respect him cos I see him as an intelligent tactician, but he blossoms and crashes down again..

Never wanted him at Arsenal though….

  3. Am not sure,is it not Aston Villa you wanna write in your title, instead of Sunderland???????

  4. Who should leave this summer?

Arteta, Rosicky, Flamini, Debuchy are all surely out.

Either one of Walcott or OX is likely out as well. Giroud? Szczesny? Cazorla?

Koscielny turns 31, Mertesacker and Cazorla 32. Welbeck will not be of any use for the whole season.

We need a striker, a winger, defensive midfielder and a defender. My guess is we will get one good player and 2-3 (sa)no gos.

    1. I have said it that this summer is gonna be a very interesting one as to who will leave permanently/loan…..

In our defence, nobody leaves imo,and I wanna see Chambers feature..
In midfield,we know our ‘pensioneers’ already….

It is in attack we don’t know for now…
      Sanogo(offload)
      Gnabry(loan)
      Ox(loan)
      Walcott(sell)
      Silva(loan)
      Probable promotions:
      Iwobi
      Toral
      Probable buys;
      Midfield:Xhaka,Kante…
      Forward:Laca,Auba,Benz,Janssen,Lukaku..
      All in all,busy summer ahead!

        1. Id lose Gnabry though. There’s some interesting players coming up behind him and Iwobi and Campbell have already surpassed him. If he does a Coquelin Id be more than happy but I’m very skeptical on that one.

  5. Our youth team just got promoted from the championship. Meanwhile, Chelsea’s is off winning European cups. Perspective.

Then again, how many Chelsea youth players actually make it compared to Arsenal’s?

    1. @Mick The Gooner
Really strange that both ManC and Chelsea have deadly youth squads, yet very few of those young players ever feature for the 1st team…
Guess those youngsters are way down the pecking order, with the 25/26 on loan players waiting their turn also…

      1. It’s only going to hurt them eventually. What youngsters are going to move there knowing they wont get a sniff. Money might bring some of the more obvious starlets, but I reckon they’ll eventually start losing out on a fair few possible wonderkid signings.

  6. Seriously we should give Chris Willock a chance. He was the stand out guy in the play offs
