Who should play for Arsenal against Vorskla

This is a very tricky situation, even without the political turmoil in the Ukraine, as we will be desperate to see our best players kept fit for Arsenal’s massive game against Tottenham on Sunday.

We already have Nacho Monreal and Alexandre Lacazette on the treatment table and Stephan Lichtsteiner is also a doubt, but can Emery afford to send any of our first team stars on the plane to Kiev tonight?

I am thinking that Petr Cech will definitely be in goal and the youngsters Eddie Nketiah, Emile Smith Rowe, Joe Willock and Julio Pleguezuelo, and possibly Zech Medley will also be starting ,as they all missed Laurent Koscielny’s comeback game against Derby on Tuesday.

Emery won’t want to start a full team of rookies though as we still need the win to guarantee to finish top of the table, and Mohammed Elneny, Carl Jenkinson, Maitland-Niles and possibly Mhkitaryan, who needs a confidence booster, are likely to start.

We are yet to see Emery’s squad list for the players that are making the trip, but who would you start in this very unwanted match tomorrow?

  1. ………………….cheq…………………..
    Leics…….. Kos…… Julio…. Carl…
    ………………elneney………………..
    …………..Ramsey… Willock………
    ESR……. Eddie……. Mikhi……….
None of them will be in the starting 11 sunday……

    1. Or if kos not fit enough….
      ……………………..cheq…………………………
      Leic………. Elneney….. Julio….. Carl
      ………………….AMN…………………….
      ……………ramsey…… Willock…………

      1. CECH (it’s a 4 letter name ffs. How difficult is it to remember a 4 letter word)
        Elneny
Leic? Lichtsteiner. Got your letters mixed up in abbreviation

I’m astounded you got Mkhi abbreviation right.

Seriously can someone still be a real Arsenal fan if they can’t spell CECH?

  2. ………………….Nketiah
    Smith-rowe…Ramsey….Mkhitaryan
    ………Guendouzi……Elneny
    Niles..Pleguezuelo.Mustafi..Jenkinson
    ……………………Cech

Subs: Martinez, Holding, Lichtsteiner(if fit enough to make bench), Willock, Iwobi. Add two more fit youngsters. We shouldn’t risk taking the others because of the Tottenham game.

    1. I like your team Lupe, well, most of it 😛 My team is very close to yours.

I do think AMN needs more time in the middle and he could do with sticking to the middle so he can learn that role… In fear of him becoming the next Ox. I do recognise he is a more reliable 1st team player than an untested kid.

ElNeny needs mins but for me, I want to see AMN in the middle and ElNeny would be the one who made way for him, TBH I would like to see ElNeny loaned to someone like LCFC where he could get regular gametime in the EPL.

  3. My team would be a 4231 formation.

    Cech
    Jenkinson/Mustafi/Pleguezuelo/Lopez
    Guendouzi/AMN
    ESR/Ozil/Iwobi
    Nketiah

I know Ozil and Iwobi could be used for the spud game but considering that Auba and Iwobi are our main guys for the left currently, Iwobi can start the spud game for 45 mins… Let him wear down the spuds so Auba pace will really mess them up.

Ozil might not be in line to start the spud game, Emery may choose to go with a 433 formation for balance/def security, this doesn’t suit Ozil… Plus we have multiple players who could play the number 10 role.

Joel Lopez as LB would be a surprise but I would like to see how well he could do, how close is that future?

  4. Cech

    Lichsteiner
    Ballard (if Mavro isn’t fit)
    Pleguezuelo
    Bola

    Amaechi
    Guendouzi
    Niles
    Smith-Rowe

    John-Jules
    Nketiah

Boom! boom! booom!, pleguezuelo!, say wuelo!!! …wuelo!!

Personally I would like us to give some deserving youngsters a game like this one, they won’t get many chances to play at this level whilst still in the academy. They watched their mates leaving for competitive football so I would ask this of Emery. We have a home game to come and am sure everyone is confident we will win this group. Those youngsters would cherish an opportunity like this one, on the European stage and against a side that will give them chances if they can work at it. I would keep Ramsey, Elneny, along with Jenkinson on the bench and if Koscielny is fit – I would rather ease him in at a more opportune time, rather than throwing him straight into a game vs personnel of an unknown variety. I believe these youngsters would give a very good account of themselves, and there are one or two in there playing in an area that we’ll need to be looking into soon, so it would or could be worth the look, anyone agree?.

  5. Totally OT.. but did anyone else watch ‘Out of their skin’ with Ian Wright last night? It’s on again tonight. I was shocked & disgusted at what I saw

  6. If we are playing in Kiev it don’t mater who we play in the team because it’s a 3.5 hour flight and no 3 hour coach journey and a better hotel to stay if we are leaving today, Ozil and Laca can do with match fitness coming on at 65 mnt

  7. It’s mostly all the youngsters who got called up, glad of that. Some of them I am looking very much forward to seeing. More so than if squad players got called, good incentive for the game now. Good look young guns, come on you Gunners!!!

          1. Inter lost. I think that was the best result so that we avoid the spuds in Europa, Spurs will eventually get eliminated in the knock out stage. Problem is Liverpool seem likely to drop down to Europa now! This new threat will definitely complicate our Europa chances ☹

            1. Spurs are unlikely to beat Barcelona at the Camp nuo. Inter, however, will most likely beat PSV at San siro. Expect Spurs to drop down to Europa and Liverpool may do so as well.

  8. I definitely wanna keep the unbeaten run going…
But i also want some players rested..
