Former Spurs star says Arsenal CAN win Premier League

I was quite surprised this week to see the chances of Arsenal winning the Premier League title this season dismissed by the Chelsea and Belgium star Eden Hazard, especially as we are currently sitting just three points behind the league leaders after a tough run of games and as we put his team to the sword in swashbuckling style not too long ago.

I suppose that everyone is entitled to his own opinion, though, and one football pundit who is not usually known for saying anything good about the Gunners is the former Tottenham and Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that he does not agree with Hazard’s assessment of our title credentials.

Instead Redknapp is reported by The Mirror talking about why he thinks Arsenal can do it this time, pointing to the number of players we now have who can change a game with their abilities.

He said, “Arsenal are definitely one of them [title contenders]. They look stronger.

“They have real game-changers in Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, and Olivier Giroud is looking like a good option off the bench.”

It is not just the quality of attacking player available to Arsene Wenger that has Redknapp believing in Arsenal though, but the new defensive strength we have been showing since the manager signed the German international centre back Mustafi in the summer and paired him with the ever improving French defender Koscielny.

The pundit went on, “The defence looks better than it’s ever looked, too. It was difficult to see them winning the league with Per Mertesacker in the team, but Laurent Koscielny and Skhodran Mustafi look like the read deal.”

Is he right? And do Arsenal need to keep these key men fit to have a chance of being crowned champions of England in May?

  1. We’re playing like sh%$&! Better line up but we’re just out of sync, the build up still too slow and we can’t seem to string 3 successful passes together and lastly no piercing runs behind defenses. This needs to be addressed right away.

  2. We may not be playing our best right now, but if we can still remain unbeaten until we get our mojo back then of course we can win the Leagye!
