Why Wilshere suspension NOT so bad for Arsenal

It was surely no surprise to Arsenal fans when Jack Wilshere fouled Hull City’s Gaston Ramirez after about an hour on Saturday and even less of a surprise that the referee showed him a yellow card for the challenge. Because that is unfortunately a part of the England midfielders game and the fact that it was his fifth Premier League booking of the season clearly highlights that.

It also means that Wilshere will have to sit out the next league game but I don’t think that this is such a bad thing. Firstly, his cards show that Wilshere is putting himself about in the middle of the pitch and that is what we want from him. He could do with being a bit smarter in the tackle but he is young and at least committed to the Arsenal cause.

Plus he could do with a little rest as Ramsey’s injury means that he has played almost every minute of every game and the little injury scare is a timely reminder of how much time he has missed in recent years, partly from being over played by Arsene Wenger.

And the timing could hardly have been better because Sunderland, who were thrashed 9-0 at the weekend, are our next opponents and Aaron Ramsey is fit again, sdo we really should be able to cope without Wilshere up at the Stadium of Light.

Finally, Jack will hopefully give a little bit extra against Anderlecht in Belgium tomorrow night, knowing that he is due to miss the next match. So do you agree that this suspension is not actually bad news for Arsenal?
