Will Arsenal finally keep a clean sheet against Everton?

Let’s be honest, the Arsenal defence has hardly improved since last years farcical form under Arsene Wenger, and if anything may have even got worse! The Gunners have conceded 9 goals in just 5 games, and conceding 2 against the Ukranian minnows Vorskla at the Emirates is beyond embarrassing.

But Unai Emery is hopeful that this abysmal run can end tomorrow when Everton come to visit. When asked about this problem, Emery said: “I want to win. We are winning but maybe we can analyse one day, we don’t score our chances and the opposition score a lot of chances we can lose the match. I want to continue improving in all things and find the balance. Now it’s very important and our objective to improve in the defensive moments.”

And when quizzed on what he thought the reasons for conceding were he replied: “There are different things. For example in the match against Newcastle we didn’t concede a lot of chances, and the goal that we conceded in the last minute is something we can work on. It’s something where we can give them the mentality so that it doesn’t happen again. I think this match is a good example of how we have improved in this. Yesterday was different because after we scored four goals, the team relaxed a little and conceded one or two goals. One was a mistake, but I think we have the solution and the first chance we have to prove that is against Everton on Sunday.”

That is definitely going to be a tall order to be honest. Although we have a great record against the Toffees, they have scored in 6 of our last 7 meetings, and they have actually scored inn every game totalling 11 goals already this season, only 2 less than Arsenal.

I still think Arsenal will win, but I doubt very much whether we will get our first clean sheet in this game…..
