Manchester United play host to Arsenal on Saturday afternoon, so we thought we’d take a look into our opponents squad.
We obviously come into the match in top form, having not lost since the opening weekend of the season, while our rivals are not blessed with much of the same.
The Red Devils come into the game down in sixth place having won only two of their last eight league matches, including three losses, and a win for our side today would build a nine point lead over Jose Mourinho’s side.
With the big match coming up, we thought we’d take a look into our players, and moreso considering which of our rivals players could improve our side.
David De Gea is touted as the best shot-stopper in the Premier League, but his record this season is questionable, and I can’t say I would swap Petr Cech with the Spaniard on ability alone, with De Gea holding the obvious age advantage. No improvement.
There is no defender who I would even consider moving either Laurent Koscielny or Shkodran Mustafi our the way for, although their new signing Eric Bailly is most likely their strongest option. Luke Shaw is full of potential, but Nacho Monreal was probably the best LB in England last term, and deserves his spot. No improvement.
The midfield analysis is a little more tricky. I quite like Ander Herrera, although he rarely gets to see much first-team action. Marouann Fellaini has come under scrutiny but does his job, a role we are well covered in, while Paul Pogba has failed to live up to his price-tag since his emphatic big-money move back to Old Trafford.
Juan Mata and Anthony Martial are exciting players, but as with Jose Mourinho, Wenger has our wide men tracking back, and Iwobi would likely keep the former out of the side. Martial is a top upcoming star, although as United have struggled to find him a regular starting role, we might also find it hard to accommodate him on a permanent basis.
Zlatana the prima donna was a superstar in his time, but his ego would be detrimental on our squad, and his aging legs appear to be struggling somewhat with the power of the Premier League. I would take Marcus Rashford off their hands in a heart-beat however, and believe he is being wasted at present.
