WOW! 1st Arsenal FA cup game is repeat of final v Hull City

Arsenal are not the only Premier League club to get a tough draw, but it just adds more fuel to the argument that we just cannot get a break and that seems to have been the case for a long time now. It is pretty amazing, however, that our first game in this season’s FA cup is against the same team, Hull City, that we faced in the final at Wembley in May.

At least the game is a home one for the Gunners and we do have the morale advantage of having won that final and lifted the famous trophy. Also, since they nearly beat us in mid October, with Danny Welbeck grabbing an injury time leveller, Hull have really been struggling for form and have not won a single game in seven.

So you would think that Arsenal should be able to make light of a fairly tough draw and make progress in our attempt to defend the FA cup. It was never going to be easy though was it?

There are three more all EPL ties, with Everton v West Ham United, Leicester City v Newcastle United and Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur. But our big rivals for the trophy have things easier, with Chelsea at home to Watford, Man City at home to Sheffield Wednesday and Man United away to wither Accrington Stanley (exactly!) or Yeovil.

Don’t worry though Gooners, because Arsenal got tough draws in the competiton last season and look what happened. Can we do it again?
