Arsenal chasing midfielders in January? by Frank
I think that most Arsenal fans would still say that another forward player should be the priority for Arsene Wenger when the winter transfer window comes around in January, even though Alexis Sanchez, Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott have been going along nicely and we have Danny Welbeck on the way back from injury.
Maybe the boss will agree but we will have to wait and see and I would not hold my breath if I were you. Another commonly held belief among Arsenal fans is that our central midfield could do with strengthening, as Mikel Arteta and Mathieu Flamini are not at the top level and we rely too much on Francis Coquelin. Not to mention that we usually have a mountain of midfielders in the treatment room!
There are more signs that Wenger is on board with this one and The Mirror is reporting that Arsenal are targeting two possible players to come in.
They are the 23-year old Brazilian Jorginho of the Serie A club Napoli and the Swiss midfielder Granit Xhaka who is currently playing in the German Bundesliga for Borussia Monchengladbach. The report goes on to reveal that Wenger has had his Arsenal scouts at games involving both of these young and promising players as the Frenchman weighs up his options.
Will this transfer window be a bit more action-packed for Arsenal fans? And do Arsenal even need more midfielders?

we need a right winger thats for sure. why not write an article about that gaping hole in our squad sheet eh mate?
CDM should be our priority. William Carvalho could be a great option. Although he would be expensive, but i reckon he will be a beast and would do well in the PL. Rest of the positions we can plan for in the summer as i don’t believe there will be any top class talent available in the winter to add to our front line, be it on the wings or a ST.

yeah CDM is a risky area in the sense that their is little to no cover ..but right wing? jeez it has become a nightmare ever since Walcott decided to make himself a CF. Campbell contributes jack squat while Ramsey can’t score even 6 feet infront of goal. Chamberlain is nothing short of a liability well demonstrated in the everton game where he got duly disposessed after attempting to dribble with pretty much everyone infront of him and nobody behind him costing us a goal… the same same thing he did in preseason again versus everton costing us Barkley’s goal.
I think our squad are short of three backups midfielders. Beside Coquelin, we don’t have close equal backups for Ozil and Santi.
Wingers? I don’t really worry about that. As CAM, Ozil play at both wings, left or right, and his assist stats is speaking well. Player like Giroud, Rambo, Theo or Alexis can combine and link up well to make an opener to Ozil run from the wings. That’s what Campbell lack of. Maybe due to his limited playing time with Ozil.
Bottom line is, we need midfielders at less for Santi and Coq backups.
I think we are currently identifying potential replacement for the summer January signings will only go ahead if deals need to be put forward

Rosicky; praet
Sanogoo; Embolo, vlasic
Because we don’t need one. Walcott, Ox, Campbell and Ramsey all play on the right. EVER HEARD OF A CLUB WITH 5 RW ? ME NEITHER
None of them are starting material in that position so it could be a case of who wants it more or buy the real thing.
How far ahead would we be now if we added Pedro or greizmann last. Summer?
we have too many midfielders that is why they are being used as wingers and rights backs. Wenger should properly invest in the problem areas such as striking and defense instead of add yet more midfielders we dont need.
Ox and Campbell and Gnabry are investments. What more do you want ??? Neymar ? Robben perhaps ??
Gabriel, Chamber and Mertesacker, that’s 4 CB, Monreal cal also play CB, that’s 5 CB, now you want another one for the current season ? Which club in the world has 6 CB ?? Mertesacker will be replaced next season with another defender Wenger isn’t daft. He’ll get another holding midfielder, an attacker and a defender, expect the defender or the midfielder to be young and cheap. And we might not get another midfielder if Bielik is good enough to back Coquelin.
We need a reliable striker, a CDM to help le’Coq and a left winger. So that Sanchez can play behind a main striker, we’ll be deadly!!!

depends what type of midfielder we need we should have got kondogbia or imbula when we had a chance, i dont care what anyone else says we are in desperate need of a big midfield presence in the big matches, le coq gives us a great defensive base, but we still need someone along side him to drag the team forward with power and determination, as well as skill. corzola is very good at giving us good control when we are up against teams that stand off our midfield, but if we up against a team that presses against us we need power to break through and press back, i saw pogba last night and he was miles above all the players on the pitch, when he came on just ran the whole midfield on his own, wenger should blow all of his next summers budget signing pogba, even if it takes everything we got the kid is the best young c/m in the world atm. nobody comes anywhere near him. and he would complete our midfield perfectly.
