Forget Europa – Arsenal just have to win against Stoke

Arsenal have won their last three games in a row and with the big Europa League clash with CSKA Moscow coming up the Gunners could really do with another win against Stoke to keep the momentum going, although Steve Bould has still not quite given up on making the top four but admits it won’t be easy…”Look, it’s tough.” Bouldy said. “The manager said it’s tough and of course it’s tough. We’re not stupid. But you never know. Winning games is much better than not if we’re going to win a Europa League final. To win games now is better for us, so the more games we can win now the better the season becomes and what happens in the end is what happens.”

Of course he was naturally asked if that meant Arsenal would be concentrating on the Europa League, And he said: “I’m not sure we have, no. As far as I’m concerned it’s a big game on Sunday for us. We could do with a win. We need to pick up a win, we need to play well and get players fit again and get a full squad and see where we go from there.”

Of course it is a pipe dream that we will make the Top Four but there is nothing wrong with dreaming, but it is much more important to keep the confidence high. As Stoke have lost on their last 15 visits to Arsenal, surely it shouldn’t be a problem should it?

My dreams for the rest of the season for Arsenal are to win the Europa league, no more embarrassing defeats and for Wenger to step down at the end of this season. I haven’t seen Bould’s press conference but if he thinks we still have a top 4 chance he’s just as delusional as Wenger, to be honest that’s the kind of jibberish rubbish I’d expect from Wenger and thought Bould would at least be a bit realistic.

We will win and it wont matter as the battle is long over. Our current rivals are the likes of Burnley so 6th place is going to be the place we need to fight hard for. hahaha.

But cohesion and mentality ia good as ever. And also our values. The spirit. Friendship and love. And our tolerance towards old people is also a thing one can admire. What can one more expect from a football team?

Damned if we win, damned if we don’t.
Really want to beat these cloggers from Stoke, feelings go way back.
Just hope we don’t pick up any injuries.
Strongest team to start, build a good league, then use our subs.

They just couldn’t handle the two semi final defeats in ’71 and ’72 Ken. No different then with clooggers like Smith and Pejic, remember it well, just about to leave the Hillsborough Kop end when suddenly “hold it a minute, we’ve got a penalty”, they still claim the last minute equaliser from a Peter Storey spotkick was controversial even though Mahoney dived full length to keep out Frank Mclintock’s header with his hand. Anyway, done ’em in the replay and the double was back on.

Doesn’t matter if the race is over, I want my team to win, not just this game, every game and if you don’t you are not a Gooner.

Absolutely right, too many people on here have tunnel vision and really need to focus on supporting.

I really want this season to end as soon as possible, I’m not motivated to watch any of the remaining matches at all. This season is a waste already.
Please did Bould still chew gum during the press conference?

Stoke are rubbish and nowhere near as tough to beat as they used to be. I’ve fancied them for relegation all season so I reckon it’ll be a comfortable win for us.

We have a run of very winnable league games for the next 4 weeks, and need to take maximum points from these, because Burnley also have a run of very winnable games coming up. If we slip-up now then even 6th place could seem like a tough challenge by the end of April.

OT: Just read an article that claims Isco is an “Arsenal target” and that “Arsene Wenger wants to strengthen his attacking options and sees Isco as a potential addition when the window reopens.”

Isco has been complaining that he’s unhappy with his relationship with Zidane at Real Madrid and “Isco has a £614m release clause in his Real Madrid contract, lasting until 2022 after he signed a new contract last year. However, Real look like they would be willing to sell for far, far, cheaper in the summer.”

Only £614m eh? What an insane figure!

all too late … the writing was on the wall when we last met this lot and lost back in august with sanchez missing welbeck feckless xhaka demonstrating his sloppy passing ramsey running around like a turbo charged headless chicken a makeshift defence lacazette finding his feet (and being unlucky) and iwobi and walcott coming off the bench to no effect … the 4th place junkies were still shooting up and abusing the ref and anyone who dared suggest that things looked worse than the previous season … as some dude from stratford put it the whirlygig of time brings in its revenges
