Man City v Arsenal is now even more crucial – I’ll take a draw!

This weeks game at the Etihad was always expected to be extremely crucial, but not so long it ago it was supposed to be a title decider between Arsenal and Man City. Pelligrini’s side lost to Southampton last week, probably because their minds were on last night Champions League decider against Real Madrid with a place in the Final of Europe’s greatest competition at stake.

Sadly that didn’t go as planned for City and now they are in a straight fight with Arsenal for automatic qualification to next seasons Champions League, and if they beat the Gunners this weekend they will leapfrog Arsenal into third on goal difference with just one game to play, so Arsene Wenger will be desperate to get at least a point to keep us in the driving seat.

Man City will have to pick themselves up after last night’s disappointment, while Arsenal have had a full week to recover from last weeks win over Norwich, so that may be a factor in Arsenal’s favour,as well as Wenger having a full squad to choose from for a change.

Man City are slight favourites at 2.40 in the 888sport football betting odds, while Arsenal are a very reasonably priced 2.90, but surely this nail-biting game will be a tough match to call. Arsenal fans like me will be praying for a very tight draw at least so I’ll be taking the 3.50 on offer from 888sport which is basically a bet on Arsenal finishing third and securing the automatic Champions League spot.

Am I being too optimistic?

  1. City was very below par last night, my Arsenal can never be so clueless even against Madrid..

S’ton beat’em so I fancy our chance of getting at least a draw as you have said…
Plus Kompany is out and the team is not really playing well…

We have to take them serious though..
I want us win not just for the sake of top3..Leicester and Spurs beat’em there too, we have to do the same…

      1. *been watching Arsenal this season
Man City even managed two goals against Southampton, having won the first leg 3-1. We did NEITHER. Our cluelessness, especially in certain matches, against our usual bogey teams, or in crucial matches, is now almost legendary. I love Arsenal, but I can’t beat to watch us keep doing the SAME THING over and over, and getting the same stupid results. Going into the Champions League for another season will make ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE ultimately. We’re gonna just repeat what we’ve kept doing for the past 7 or 8 or more seasons now – crashing out in the early stages, getting booted out by the REAL contenders. Anything that would change the status quo, will be VEERY Welcome to me.

          1. NUG…. maybe you should… your record sounds extremely scratched. MAybe original thoughts from you instead of cirticising poster????

  2. This summer if Giroud goes to Wolfburg, and Auba goes to Madrid, we could get Benzema…

But I don’t want Giroud to go,I want us to add another world class striker..He is the best 2nd choice striker…

If the new striker gets injured,Giroud can always cover for him…at least he is capable of that

    1. Giroud forgets that his role as a striker is to score goals. His hold up play is excellent, but a striker should be concentrating on scoring. He needs to change his game so he can loose his marker and play a more effective role for the team.

      1. Gunner…. Girouds hold up play excellent ??? he doesnt have a hold up play, he gets the ball and offlloads it immediately – not my interpretation of hold up play.

  3. Man City have a much better goal difference than us, so if we want to guarantee 3rd place..we have to beat them.. while a draw would be better than defeat..it’s not enough.

      1. With Arsenal, you can never tell. We are the only team that beat the champions home and away (they lost 3 and 2 of that to Arsenal) but among the first 4, we lost most to lesser teams and so far not lost to any of the other 3 teams of the top 4. Can you imagine this? Inconsistency our trade mark.

  4. Nah its not. It’s only a brand after all!
Like Fred Perry or heinz baked beans…

We won’t miss the UCL honey pot money, but Stan might not enjoy it! Won’t say he will miss it as it’s small change but the board and brand growth consultants of Stans might be a little peeved too.

  5. The battle to be
    3rd place Champion.
    12 years of promises
    12 years of excuses.
It’s always next season, a couple of
decent signings and we Gunner win the league.
I wonder if those under 20 years of age think
that’s why our team is called the “Gunners”
coz we always “Gunner” win the league.

    1. :)‎
Or ‘gunner’ bottle it , stick a shiny label on it and call it a brand.
