Official teams and preview of Arsenal v Man City

There is some very good news on the team front for Arsenal fans today, but it does not concern anyone on the Gunners’ team sheet. It is the fact that our opponents Man City are without their talisman and best player Yaya Toure. And of course the new boy Danny Welbeck gets his debut at centre forward.

Even without that news, Arsene Wenger had promised that Arsenal were going to go all out for the win so this will only encourage the players to really take the game to the Premier League champions. And the injury to Aaron Ramsey which we feared would put the Welshman out of action for a while has turned out to be so minor that he starts today. I just hope that Wenger is not taking a risk with him.

Somewhat surprisingly, Jack Wilshere also starts and so does Mesut Ozil, so I assume that the German will be played out wide again with Jack in the number 10 position. A bit strange if you ask me, but let’s hope it pays off. Monreal’s recent good form means that he has kept his place with the recovered Kieran Gibbs on the bench.

Szczesny
Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey, Wilshere
Alexis, Welbeck, Ozil

subs : Ospina, Gibbs, Chambers, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Podolski, Cazorla

A few surprises in the selection, for me anyway, but still a strong Arsenal side and hopefully enough to get us a much needed win. COYG

like i say previously for many times…

    Wenger has to go…

    poor tactics

    poor subs strategy

    playing players out of positions

Fracking Zonal marking, the guy had a free header and Scez if you touch the ball from a heaader you keep it out!!!!

Sisokko would be good addition to the squad as he is a pure bred athlete but he isn’t a dm

I think Morgan schnederlin. Would be excellent he is too big for Southampton and he is only getting better why not go for him carvalho isn’t good enough for us he has had a terrible start this season even getting sent off for mistimed tackles

Shezny has taken his number 1 position for granted again…

    hes too raw and inexperience

    time for Opina….

Really? Szchezny had a solid game. Can’t really blame him for trying to save that header. Have you not seen how many times he saved us today?

Its very funny, how arsenal play sometimes, like they are on summer holidays and not serious, how can u put the slowest Defender against a sharp faster opponent.

With zonal marking last season we conceded once in the league u obviously watch allot of match of the day as they always comment on arsenal zonal marking even when theirs nothing to comment on

We are lucky not to too loose today, lucky to get a point! Mertasacker is so poor! But on the positive what a performance from wilshere

I am convinced aw is total white… Why play ox for 5 mts when ozil was not there still all for 90 mt…fans in London shud protest against this nonsense…that’s 2 pts lost..

Point gained or 2 points lost. Going into the game i can accept this, but we should gave hung on for the 3 points.

    1. Jimbeam

Point gained… they were running all over us in the last 10 minutes. 2 posts, one slightly offside goal. Our D is not good enough.

This policy of rotating players thinking about upcoming games is suitable..it has only results do in injured players and trophyless yrs…playing one game at a time and win it…

What do we have in the end? One lucky point and in all probability a serious injury to Debuchy. Thank god we have one guy (Chambers) covering for three positions (RB and both CB). Again we have the results of Wenger’s failings in the market and tactically. When will people understand that we need a new manager?

playing draw on our own home soil against the big teams is total crap if we think we are a big team as well.

Who played for a draw??? We’re you not watching the game. Man C is no minnow and. We were not lucky. Get off the negativity bandwagon. It was obvious the team was trying to win up to the last seconds. I diff didn’t c any buses being parked.

AW is stupid now.I think it is the manager breaking confidence of the players withbhis mgmt…can’t recall one non-engine player who has done well here since fab…

Why is ozils’ work rate so poor?
    Is it a fitness issue?
He was anonymous for most of the game and didn’t produce anything of note.
Atrocious defending today, or we’d have won today.

  13. ritblitz

Ozil…..needs to be watched 24 hrs..need to find out what makes him run so meaningless and without any passion….is he still remembering Madrid..
Campbellnot on bench but ozil plays 90 mts… I think ozil shud be made to play under 21 for 90 mts and not for the senior side…forget the world cup tag…it was not because of him but inspired of him.
