Surely Arsenal would have prepared for this must win Premier League game away to West Brom, but you would hardly have known it with the way we performed at the Hawthorns today. Not only did Arsenal let the home side take the lead after failing to defend properly from one of their notoriously strong set pieces, we failed to learn from that mistake and did exactly the same in the second half.
Those two free headers from corners were bad enough, but on top of that we were slow and predictable in our general play and despite having the lion’s share of possession and more than five times the number of passes we hardly created anything apart from the equalizing goal by Alexis Sanchez.
That came just three minutes after the opener and it should have spurred us on but after the break it was pretty poor all round. If the two headed goals were bad from an Arsenal point of view, West Brom’s second was almost comical to watch if it had not neen so damaging.
Ospina was on for the injured Cech and he and Bellerin got in a right old muddle to allow the ball to be rolled in by Robson-Kanu. To complete our misery Alexis Sanchez went off after picking up a knock. Arsenal were done by the end oif this match and could well have conceded more. This time I am struggling to see Arsenal finishing in the top four.
Will that mean the end of Arsene Wenger?
