Unai Emery gives a very short response to Jose Mourinho speculation

Unai Emery continues to face questions from the media about Jose Mourinho.

One of the major subjects in the news media in recent weeks has been the future of Unai Emery with speculation rampant over who will replace him as the next Arsenal manager. One of the candidates mentioned frequently has been Jose Mourinho.

The rumours became so intense that they even had to come out and deny that one of their board members dined with the former Chelsea boss.

Mourinho has been out of work since he left Manchester United and seems keen to get back to work. While he has been linked with numerous other openings, his link to Arsenal isn’t going away.

Emery was asked specifically about reports claiming that he would be replaced by Mourinho. His response was short and sweet.

Emery simply replied: “I am the coach.”

It has been a tough start to a season that promised so much for the Spaniard. However, he has had to deal with a string of bad performances and Granit Xhaka abusing the club’s fans.

The questions will continue to be asked about his tenure at the Emirates until results improve. Right now it is Mourinho that is being talked up, next week it could be Brendan Rodgers. This is the reality that Emery is going to have to put up with. A reality of his own making.
