Arsenal have a great chance to be the one unpredictable team

Arsenal needs to beat Tottenham to break the sense of predictability that has engulfed the four teams behind Liverpool and Man City battling for a top-four finish.

Let me explain what I mean.

Last season whenever Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd or Spurs had a chance to take advantage of their rivals mishaps, they blew it, if Spurs lost then as sure as night followed day so did the others, if United lost the rest dropped points, same with us and Chelsea, it just kept on happening, it was more a case of who didn’t want a top-four finish as opposed to who did. It was literally the worst and yet most entertaining top-four race for years.

Now, tomorrow if we win we would go four points ahead of both Chelsea and United and five in front of Spurs because as you probably already know, both the Blues and the Red Devils dropped points today.

Therefore, if we are to repeat the debacle of last season then it would mean we lose to Spurs and then there are just two points covering the four teams.

See where I am coming from here? This is a great chance for Arsenal to put a gap between themselves and their closest rivals but for that to happen they have to not be predictable.

Last season it became predictable for the Arsenal, Chelsea, United and Tottenham to blow their chances week after week so, Arsenal needs to become unpredictable and let the pack do the chasing this season.

Because being predictable means it is going to be another dog eat dog race.

  1. I thought Emery would imitate Klopp’s 4-3-3 after he gets Pepe and would not be defensive anymore at big away matches, but he still likes to use pragmatic strategy. The only good thing is he doesn’t use 3-4-2-1 anymore

I agree that Arsenal have to be unpredictable to beat Spurs, because I believe Pochettino has already had a plan to counter Emery’s 4-2-3-1 tactic

Luckily Spurs defenders don’t know much about Pepe and I bet they are wary of Pepe/ Maitland-Niles combo

  2. We managed a good run last season were even some fans got to thinking about titles. Tomorrow is a huge game, we need to take advantage and make the home favor count.

When we have a fully fit team we have shown how we can get a run up and going, we have a little more depth this season but are waiting on fullbacks and CB to beef the squad up. Our fullbacks for the game are gonna need to be switched on, no dallying, no casualness, just two minds – To stop and hurt the enemy.

Get some chances for our strikers, and cut off supply to their forwards, be the dominant team in every battle, I have confidence that we can set ourselves up for better footing in the table. The players owe us a massive performance, they owe it to themselves too, by whatever means necessary, come on you Arsenal, pretty please.

  3. PAL should keep spuds unsettled all game, with their injuries our midfield should dictate the tempo.

FB’s pick themselves, but what’s the CB pairing tomorrow? Thinking Chambers earned a shot,

  4. PAL PAL PAL

what have we seen from pal that we sing it like
A new song, let’s wait till we see pal and let’s
Stop not over hype it before it even get started

    1. We are in need of another winger seriously. If we had another good one I would have considered us good enough to to finish 2nd or maybe compete for the trophy.
Next season if we are serious we should go and get one unless one of the academy boys is ready to step up.
Thankfully, we also have Nketiah as a future striker for us who is silencing his critics and continuing where he left off from the academy.I tell you that kid is Auba and Laca in one in terms of qualities.

    2. There is no hype here…that is our best attacking option. Auba & Laca did well last season. It makes little sense spending that amount on Pepe, if it will not be an improvement on last season.

We could have spent big defensively instead with the coach been scared to fully utilize the attack he has.

  5. It will be unpredictable enough for me if we don’t make a defensive mistake tomorrow.

Anyway, just get us 3 points!

  6. My problem is with Emery. A coach should know the capability of his players. If you watch Liverpool and City, they play the same way with the bulk of same players in matches. I dont understand the meaning of this Emery brand which stipulates attack developed from the rear. It was used with Liverpool and a clueless midfield and we were held captive at our own halve with little trouble for Liverpool. Burnley lost to City but they didnt make themselves under dogs as we usually do when we play too teams. They contested every ball and it was shear superiority of players that made City to prevail. We have the players to match Liverpool and City but Emery will go for youngsters with no experience to play top teams. This won’t take us anywhere. Play our best players including Ozil and leave the youngsters to certain matches.

    1. Youngsters like Zinchenko has been playing great for Man City and Alexander-Arnold is also doing great at Liverpool. Arsenal are also using their youngsters’ energy and those young people didn’t disappoint in the first two EPL games

I wouldn’t consider Ozil as one of our best players anymore, since he has got more than three seasons to carry our team and he has blown his chances. I’d prefer Arsenal to gamble on the younger players, because the old players have tried their best and they simply don’t have enough abilities to improve Arsenal further

I agree that Emery might not be the best manager for Arsenal, but I’m looking forward to the changes after he got beaten at Anfield

  7. IF Arsenal will not start to be the so so Arsenal the same Arsenal that they are often called to stop being the joking team. Then for a start to correct this negative impression let them beat Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow at the Ems in the PL to return back to 3rd position in the table.

But if Arsenal play to a draw game in the match with Tottenham for which I think Spurs will not mind getting a point in the match instead of to lose the whole 3 points. But still, Arsenal wil not e the serious team us Gooners want to see them be if they should play to a draw in the match.

Last week at Anfield in the PL, Arsenal threw away the chance to top the table by beating Liverpool as the collapsed to 3-1 cowardice defeat despite the club owner authorizing over £100m to sign new players to reinforce the 1st team squad last summer transfer window. But what did us see happened at Anfield last Saturday? Arsenal still play the 2nd fiddle on the match that they’ve been playing At Anfield for seasons in the PL. This is terrible and it has to stop from extending tomorrow to the Spurs match.

I want Arsenal to bear it in their minds that the match will become very hard for them to win it. Because apart of the match being a North London rivalry match, Spurs will come into the match with vengeance after surprisingly losing at home to Newcastle last week in the PL. And they will want to use Arsenal as their foot pedals to cycle bouncing back into contention. But since Arsenal they don’t have any other viable option other than only option to win the match to return to 3rd in the table and also open up a 2 point gap to their closest pursuers in the table and also force Tottenham to remain where they are in the table or ho further below it. Then, Arsenal MUST be very hard in the match tomorrow playing the game very hard to topple their North London rivals Tottenham in the match and collect all the 3 points that will be stake in the match. Arsenal MUST not allow the 2 and 3 points gap currently existing between them and Man City and Liverpool to widen. But start looking on how they’ll start closing the gaps after the international break after doing the first thing first by giving it whatever it takes to beat Spurs unfailingly tomorrow.

  8. I agree with the need to make 3rd place our own early
and allow us space to commit safely to other cups.
This round Chelsea and United have already dropped
    points in very winnable games.
Spurs lost at home to a lower ranked side.
So yes now is the time to strike leave Spurs
Utd Chelsea and Leicester behind and make it a top 3.
Spurs will be fired up and look to have all their stars back.
Oh boy what a game this is.
In the past I would have said if we did lose
we would still be joint top 6 and I would take a draw.
But that 4th place attitude instilled for a decade stops now.
We are title contenders and we hammer Spurs tomorrow.

  9. IF Arsenal will not start to be the so so Arsenal the same Arsenal that they are often called to stop being the joking team. Then for a start to correct this negative impression let them beat Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow at the Ems in the PL to return back to 3rd position in the table.
