Arsenal insists on finding a replacement before letting wantaway midfielder leave

Despite reports suggesting that Bayer Leverkusen has an agreement in place to sign Granit Xhaka, Arsenal is yet to engage in negotiations regarding the departure of the midfielder.

Xhaka has been a crucial player for Arsenal over the past few seasons, consistently delivering impressive performances under Mikel Arteta’s guidance.

As Arsenal prepares for an important summer, with plans to sign new players and offload some from the squad, Xhaka is expected to be among those on the move.

However, according to Kicker, Arsenal has not given the green light for the transfer to proceed. The Gunners are reportedly unwilling to let the Swiss captain leave the Emirates unless they have secured a suitable replacement for his role.

Aware of the significant void Xhaka’s departure would create, Arteta is cautious and does not want to take the risk of being short of cover in midfield.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Xhaka is an important player for us and we expect the midfielder to be replaced before we allow him to leave.

The ideal situation would be to keep him for one more season so his replacement can understand the role before letting Xhaka leave.

  1. Arsenal can still keep Xhaka for next season’s campaign because of the top quality performances he has brought to the team last season.
Even if Arsenal sign a new top quality midfielder replacement to him this summer which should be for top option and cover purpose in the position he plays from in the team’s midfield.
This is because even if Arsenal succeed in the summer to sign the duo nidfielders of Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo as being envisaged they mifgt. The duo may not immediately hit the ground running in their performances in matches for Arsenal at the beginning of next season’s campaign. But it could take sometime before they can start to. Mainly because of their being new in the team set up trying to understand the team’s system of playing and assimilate it comprehensively.

  2. I don’t appreciate the headline name wantaway midfielder.

Surely a better name could have been found.

    1. Gunsmoke, You and me both.

I much dislike headlines that are plainly not true and that seek to mislead. Xhaka is in NO WAY a so called “wantaway.” That is untrue and daft hype. Sigh!
However, I have little doubt he will leave. Such lowlife as CASHLEY HOLE WAS A TRUE “WANTAWAY, and for extra money only. And that negotiated behind our clubs back.

To compare the admirable character of XHAKA WITH THAT SLIMY CREATURE, IS LUDICROUS.

  3. I am not sure if I believe the article. His replacement is already at the club – in fact he started his career there. Some little-known chap called Emile Smith Rowe.
