Arsenal makes a decision on Smith Rowe’s future

Despite facing difficulties and limited playing time in the previous campaign, Arsenal has made the decision not to sell midfielder, Emile Smith Rowe, this summer.

Smith Rowe encountered injury setbacks that hindered his participation on the field, resulting in minimal appearances. During his absence, Arsenal came close to achieving success in the league, leading to plans for bolstering their midfield options with new signings at the end of this season.

While the Gunners could potentially manage without Smith Rowe if they acquire new players, they still value him as a contributor to their team. According to The Daily Mail, Arsenal has no intention of allowing the former RB Leipzig loanee to depart from the Emirates.

Instead, the club holds optimism that Smith Rowe will regain full fitness during the summer and subsequently assume a significant role as a key member of the first-team squad in the upcoming season.

Just Arsenal Opinion

Injuries were a big problem for Smith Rowe in this campaign and denied him the chance to make a meaningful impact.

However, the Englishman is still very young and we expect him to continue developing his talents until he becomes one of the best players in his position in the league.

If we sell him now, he may reach his full potential at another club and we could be left red-faced by the progress he makes as a player.

  1. Generally I take all such reports, at least until confirmed by action, with scepticism.
I have a hunch this report is true and pray it is so.

I had thought ESR would likely to be sold, though I never wished it, naturally.

  2. Would seem strange to keep him given he’s been fit for a while, yet has barely played. The fact Arteta keeps picking the dreadful Vieira over ESR surely tells us everything we need to know?

Personally, I would sell ESR all day long because of his injury record. He’s had so many!

    1. Jen, I’m with you on this one, apart from him being i.jury. He had one recurring injury, which has apparently been corrected by surgery.
If Arteta doesnt rate him, Emery does.

  3. How could we sell Smith Rowe over Vieira, that would make no sense.

This could very well be a case where PR/ political pressure triumph

  4. For his top quality performance in terms of double digit goals scoring exploits in the Epl. Which he had brought to the table in games for Arsenal in the previous season before the recently concluded last one of last Sunday..
Personally as a Gooner, if Arsenal decided to sell Emilie Smith Rowe un the summer, I will be against such a decision taken by them if I have my way to block it if Arsenal took it to sell him in the summer.
However, on a second thought, something has to give way for something to happen. And in light, in addition to the reported £180m which the club has in it’s summer transfer kitty.
But if Arsenal are to sign Osimhen, Rice, Caicedo and Boey in the summer as being reported in the media outlets they could in the summer.
But if Arsenal will achieve this their purported objective, they’ll need to do a Gunners sales in the summer to get the extra funds that remained before they can sign my above 4 named top quality players in the summer.
But hopefully and very hopefully too. Odegaard, Partey, Xhaka in general and ESR in particular won’t be among the Arsenal 8 on ground central midfielders in the team who the club will offload on sales and loan out in the summer.

  6. I wouldn’t be surprised if Smith Rowe plays a major part in the up coming pre season. Maybe he’s been wrapped up in cotton wool since his groin operation. Prior to the operation, Smith Rowe had been training and playing in constant pain for two and a half seasons. Latest reports say he’s been training pain free the entire season. It’s also been reported that the lad has lost alot of weight, and totally toned up. He’s impressed the coaching staff at training. As for his physical fitness levels, he’s been breaking all of his personal records of previous seasons. That has to be an encouraging sign for all concerned at the club. Should Granit Xhaka leave the club as supposedly reported, one would think Smith Rowe would be the perfect choice for that position. He’s faster, he’d be a better ball player, and would certainly contribute more in the goal scoring department. Xhaka’s had a great season, but Smith Rowe would have to be a major upgrade in that position one would expect. Would be silly to let Smith Rowe go,,, especially when it’s reported he’s fitter than previous seasons while playing in pain with tight groins. So I’m hoping to see the lad utilised in the up and coming pre season

    1. One of the few positive posts about why ESR has been used sparingly

I understand Jen’s point about injuries making his continued presence at the club difficult to justify but if as you say pjennings, he has been properly prepared and managed this season by Arteta and the fitness coaches then it’s a win win situation for club and player

  7. I sincerely hope that’s the case and what pjennings is saying is right, I take solace in remembering that’s a similar situation Martinelli went through.

Somewhere in Smith Rowe lays a massive player am sure he would flourish under a Unai Emery, just Hope’s he gets the chance at Arsenal to make his name.

    1. Then let’s hope that Emery doesn’t get Emile and that he stays put at Arsenal.
Good young English players are at a premium, and he’s one of the best.

  8. ESR was playing well some time ago. He was playing on the left wing then.

Since then, Martinelli hit form and kept ESR out. Then we bought Trossard, who competes for the same spot.

Arteta says he can be a back-up for Odegaard, but I do not see that.

I will repeat, if we keep ESR, he really needs to play, so I think he should go out on loan for a season!!!!

    Just my thoughts

    1. JW, ESR has the skill set, including ability to run at defences, bring othe players into play and score himself, to replace Xhaka

  9. What I find so puzzling is not thr decision to kepp ESR as to sel him would open thre club and esp MA to derision and really poor judgemnt That would have validity too IF ir hapened But seemingly , it will not ans we should be glad for that Almost ALL od us are glad it seems.
No,my friends, what hugely puzzles me ,is what MA sees in the weedy, frail, extremely ineffective ( esp in our toughPrem league), VIERA!!

THIS SEEMS TO MY MIND HIS MOST EXPENSIVE MISJUDGEMENT SO FAR IN MANAGING OUR CLUB. I cannot understand it at all. I am in a big majority of us who thinks this way too.
i do NOT say tha Viera has little skill, he does have skill and that is plain.
But he is not that rare exception for a little ‘un who will be a huge success in our Prem He would need, given his shrimp size physique, the heart of a warrior and supreme skill. He was probably decent where he played before.

But he is in the BIG LEAGUE NOW and playing with big boys. And in a huge club.

And he aint up to it , Is he!

Given my way, Id TRANSFER LIST HIM, RIGHT NOW
