Unai Emery put out a very good Arsenal team, although there was definitely some rotation included and the left back situation seems a bit strange. As usual the Gunners started very sluggishly and the first half was not at all impressive and no one was very surprised Leicester took the lead after half an hour as this has not been unusual for Arsenal this season, but that is when we usually start playing. The goal could be considered a bit lucky as Bellerin gave the perfect deflection for the shot to blindside Leno, but not unexpected.
But Arsenal did start playing after that and were totally in control as Leicester tried to sit back and try to get to half-time in front, but the much-maligned German Mesut Ozil (Herr Capitan!) gave us a sublime bit of magic, with help from Bellerin, to give us an equalizer in added time. So we go into the break level and with the certainty that we will score more in the second half….
The second half saw Leicester trying the dirty tricks with Madisson going down like he was shot when Holding touched his chin in a race for the ball, but in the next few minutes Iwobi fed two great balls which Mhkitaryan could quite convert to give us a deserved lead. In fact he had three half chances in the first 5 minutes of the second period. After that burst the Foxes came back into it and there were few chances created in the next 15 minutes although Arsenal obviously had the upper hand but it was Leicester who came closet when a corner ended up with a header coming off the bar.
With exactly half an hour left, Emery did his usual excellent subs and Aubameyang and Guendouzi came on. Two minutes later we were in front through Aubameyang and just another 3 minutes saw us put the game to bed through Aubameyang yet again. My prediction of 3-1 is looking good but I can see Arsenal scoring a lot more if they carry on playing like this…
But Arsenal decided to relax a little and make Leicester fight hard to get the ball by playing around to increase the possession stats and keep the Foxes away from the ball, and why not, as we have to play again in Lisbon on Thursday. We have three points and an amazing tenth win in row. They deserve a rest lol.
Arsenal looked very relaxed after the third goal whereas last season we panicked if we went in front, and we panicked when we went behind. Now we are showboating with ease and keeping the ball and looking like we are not going to lose any time soon….
And thankyou Arsenal for making my bet come good lol
Onwards and Upwards!
