Arsenal v Man United Preview, Team News and Score Prediction

So the big day has arrived, and after Tottenham’s loss to Southampton yesterday Arsenal are now in a prime position to challenge for Third Place, never mind Fourth. But to have the very best chance to achieve that, we first have to win today’s crunch game against Man United who are currently one point ahead of us. This is the most crucial day in Arsenal’s race for the Top Four so far this season.

I loved the way that Martin Keown put it yesterday. “Arsenal must prove they have the character and personality required to be successful. Victory will give them belief that they can finish in the top four, just as beating United in 1998 gave us the belief that we could win the title.

“We are about to find out what Arsenal are truly made of.”

And so we will! Great words Martin!

Arsenal simply have to forget Thursday’s loss at Rennes, and just think about how good we are at the Emirates. Let us look at our recent form at home…..

That is a great record and, in fact, we haven’t lost in the League here since the opening day, although Man United did embarrass us here in the FA Cup. It is worth noting though that Tottenham beat us here in the League Cup but we still made mincemeat of them in the League game. Let’s hope the same happens to Man United…

But we have to accept that Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has dramatically improved Man United since taking over from Jose Mourinho, so let’s look at there recent form away from Old Trafford….

Their record of only conceding two goals in the last six away games is quite scary, and the way that they managed to win in Paris on Wednesday with half their team out injured is very scary indeed. Let’s hope they are still caught up in the euphoria of progressing in the Champions League…

United have also had a boost from their injury problems with Matic, Bailly, Martial and Herrera back in contention, and Paul Pogba returns after missing the PSG game through suspension.

Arsenal have no new injuries, but Torreira is out suspended for three games but Lacazette returns after missing the Rennes match.

So which team will Emery pick today? That is always a big question considering that he loves to tinker. But this is my prediction….

Leno
Maitland-Niles..Sokratis..Koscielny..Monreal..Kolasinac
Ramsey..Guendouzi
Lacazette..Aubameyang..Mhkitaryan

Even though United are the visitors, we can’t ignore the fact that Arsenal have won their last 8 at the Emirates. This tells me that the 7/5 for an Arsenal win from BetUK is a great price

We will have to keep it tight at the back but the fact that Arsenal always score at home and also Leno has only kept 3 clean sheets all season, makes me think there will be goals in this game from both sides. An easy bet BTTS at 1/2 from BetUK

But the real value bet is a combination of the two bets above. Arsenal to win and BTTS is 11/4. An excellent bet!

So going by my tips above you can guess that me Score Prediction is 2-1 to Arsenal. COYG!!!!

Hopefully the Arsenal that beat Tottenham, Chelsea at the emirates will be the one that will turn up today.

    2. Th14 says:

Not with Iwobi on the bench… Emery has got this line up very wrong I’m afraid.

  2. Steve wilson says:

Hate being a pessimist but have a horrible feeling the wrong Arsenal might be on display today. Hope I’m proved wrong though. Come on the Gunners!!!!

    1. Pat says:

Steve I am only hopeful. And because of Sue, so that she can have a lovely day. ?

      1. Sue says:

Awww thanks Pat ? so sweet of you! Let’s hope we can get a win & I’ll see you on cloud 9 ??

  3. Eddie Hoyte says:

I’m gutted I might not be around to watch the game!! It’s heartbreaking because I’d love to watch it.. I still don’t know yet if I’ll be able free to watch it.
I’ll be so sad if we win and I miss the game..
But if we lost the game? will I feel bad I missed it? How will I feel??
Oh Well Fvck it!! I hate this feeling of not knowing?

  4. Louis says:

I really hope we can defeat Man united later today, but I’m not very optimistic about this one

  5. Sue says:

This is what drives me crazy – you can never predict which Arsenal will turn up! ?
Just saw that Herrera & Lingard didn’t make it (? oi oi John Wick)
I can’t predict a score… right now I’m swaying towards a United win, but I really hope I’m proved wrong!! COYG

I would love, love, love to beat Man U but I fear they might be on another level than we are.

Win this game and we have a real chance at a top 4 finish, lose and we are more or less done as far as controlling our own destiny in the quest for top 4.

  7. Jah son says:

It feels so weird we have a huge game today and we have no idea which set of players might get the nod, which formation we will be using, are we going to park the bus. I feel it for those who have to write for the Arsenal as it’s the biggest guessing game right now. Soooooo frustrated.
    Still hoping for a win.
Not even sure which players to whisper a special prayer for because we just don’t know.

  8. Grandad says:

Apart from Iwobi for PEA your selection may be bang on.

  9. S says:

Having seen the lineups, us losing is even more guaranteed if it hasn’t been already! At least Chelsea are losing so we have a chance of making top 4 even without a point today 😉

    1. Declan says:

      There you go trolling again!
The line ups look good to me, us strong, them not so.
Get over yourself and be a proper supporter!

  10. Jah son says:

    Yessssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Mr Emery this is the Arsenal
Win lose or draw these are the best we’ve got.

  11. Xxnofx says:

Finally the team I’ve been wanting all season .the best players starting for a change bar maybe one or 2 .if we lose then it shows that we just don’t have the players ,but atleast we started our best players .
    Must be a 5-2-1-2?

    1. Kedar says:

      I think it’s 3-4-1-2

      1. Jah son says:

And United are lined up the same 3412

        1. Kedar says:

Yes… It seems… So are we going to cancel out each other???

          1. Jah son says:

Am now starting to pray for discipline from Ramsey and for the God’s to be with Niles overall am satisfied.

            1. Kedar says:

Ramsey might be pivotal… He could be game changer for either team… If he plays with high intensity then he could be game changer for us or otherwise….

            2. Sue says:

Omg Jah son… you’re satisfied? Wonders will never cease ???

              1. Kedar says:

Hopefully we would see wonders on pitch and we would trash Man It’s here…
I just hate Pogba and Lukaku…

  12. Rkw says:

Best team!!! LOL there hasn’t been a game all season where a midfield of xhaka Ramsey and kolasinac has dominated the opposition …. And while it’s good to see AMN in position I can’t see how he will make a difference given their strengths … Puts a massive amount of pressure on back 3 and front 3 so I hope they are up for it … Missed the Rennes game thankfully so I just hope there is some fight in this combo at least as they will need it

  13. Eddie Hoyte says:

Strong line up but I’m gutted I won’t see the game!!!??

    1. Declan says:

Me too Eddie, I’m in Norfolk on holiday for a week with my partner and our dog and nowhere to watch it so will look for a live feed. Total Sportek usually works for me.

  14. Sue says:

Ozil, Auba, Laca… and Kolasinac ???? COYG

    1. Kedar says:

      You missed Ramsey

      1. Sue says:

I hope he has a good game ?

        1. Kedar says:

Important is we need to take our chances….
Problem with our team is that we loose chances too many… And our defense is very fragile… Just like out from nowhere Lukaku hit the Post

  15. John0711 says:

    5 out of 11 players who can’t/won’t defend ?

    1. Kedar says:

Think other way… They could trash United… Be Positive…

  16. St sass says:

    Xhaka
