Arsenal v West Ham Preview, Team News, Line-Up and Score Prediction – Ozil and Ramsey out?

As I said earlier, the pressure is on Arsenal to get three points today against West Ham, and we are hoping that Emery now knows the best team to use to get the best out of his new tactics. We will be waiting for the confirmed teams with bated breath to see his line-up.

It looks like he will not be able to use Mesut Ozil, who was reported to have missed training yesterday due to ‘illness’, which does seem to happen with alarming regularity. We would expect Aaron Ramsey to take his place as Number Ten, but Emery left the Welshman on the bench last night and told reporters that he told Ramsey to concentrate on his training more. He said: ‘I spoke with him last week. I said, ‘I want you focused only on training and only on the match, you show us the capacity to help the team’. ‘The contract is another thing for his agent and the club, but we want – and I need – his focus only on training, on the match and his performance each day.

‘I want the player to be focused only on Saturday. So that our players give our supporters quality and energy.’

That seems to imply that Emery thinks Ramsey is distracted and not giving his all for the team, but most people would still expect him to start today with Ozil on the missing list, but I think that Xhaka will be preferred.

We are also hoping that Lucas Torreira can make his first start after two appearances from the bench, and I am pretty sure that the youngster Matteo Guendouzi is quickly cementing his his position, with the stats saying he has made more tackles and interceptions than anyone else this season. Emery admitted his admiration for the 19 year-old. “It is a very big, positive surprise with him,” he said. “He is improving. He is playing and working every day. He is hungry – he wants to improve, he wants to learn every day, every match. He is doing it his way, with character and quality. We are very happy with him but every match is a chance to show this progress with consistency.”

I’m pretty sure Guendouzi will be the first name on the teamsheet for the forseeable future, and he fully deserves it at the moment. With Sead Kolasinac and Maitland-Niles both out long-term we can look forward to Monreal back in his usual position. We are in need of his consistency alongside Sokratis and Mustafi, who are still thought to be a little suspect, and it looks like Mavropanos and Holding will be our Europa League pairing. Bellerin should keep his place on the right…

All of us are still dying to see Aubabameyang and Lacazette play together but the Frenchman is set to be consigned to the bench at the moment after Emery’s statement this week. And surely Mkhitaryan will also keep his place.

So here is my team prediction……

Cech
Bellerin – Mustafi – Sokratis – Monreal
Guendouzi – Torreira – Xhaka
Iwobi – Aubameyang – Mkhitaryan

If the Gunners play with the desire they showed against Chelsea, with a few more improvements as well, I believe Arsenal will get the required three points, but with the usual defensive worries! I’m going for 3-1 to Arsenal.

What do you think?

  1. Even if Ozil and Ramsey are out, I predict Emery would still use 4-2-3-1, because this is a home game:

    ………………….Cech
    Bellerin . Mustafi . Sokratis . Monreal
    ……..Guendouzi …… Xhaka
    Nelson …… Mkhitaryan …… Iwobi
    …………….Aubameyang

  2. I will not play Ramsey.
Xhaka will also not start for me.
    It’s a must win game
So my back 4 would remain like yours
Then I will play two holding players and mkhi uptop while iwobi and aubameyang on the wings and lacazette as the point man. If Emery decides otherwise… I will start iwobi and welbeck on the wings and Auba uptop
    Torreira Guendozi
    Iwobi Mkhi Auba/welbeck
    Laca/Auba

  3. cech(c)

    bellerin….sokratis…..mustafi….monreal

    torreira……guendeouzi

    mkhitaryan……ramsey……..iwobi

    aubameyang

i think this will be our team.

  4. There must be Lacazette in there. Ramsey and Ozil? No problem dropping them. That era should be over now that a player will walk into the team without meriting it.

  5. Try this one Emery
    Cheq
    Bellerin Mustafi Sockrates Monreal
    Torreira Guendozhi
    Aubamayieng Mikhitarian Iwobi
    Lacazette

  6. Why does Ozil get sick so often, what is going on?
Anyways, i hope the team is like this:
    ………………aubameyang
    ….Iwobi………lacazette…….mhkitaryan
    …………guendouzi…..torreira
    Monreal….sokratis…mustafi…lichtsteiner

Since, ozil is not playing, we can play lacazette slightly behind aubameyang and iwobi should keep his place after the chelsea performance. Xhaka and bellerin should be dropped and ramsey should stay on the bench as long as he refuses to be committed to arsenal.

  7. I’m glad ozil is out what ever the reason
Just remove Xhaka the worst midfielder who has played regularly for Arsenal and we are nearly there
Leno and Lich would be icing on the cake

  8. Why do people keep selecting Bellerin over Lichtsteiner based on Bellerin’s performances in the first two games? Lichtsteiner would provide experience, toughness, discipline and leadership for his fellow defenders. Lichtsteiner and Torreira must start against West Ham in this must win game

    1. @Ozziegunner
Baffles me too! The writer even said Bellerin “should keep his place” as if it’s not even a debate Bellerin is first choice. I tell you if it were up to me Bellerin would be lucky to even play Europa league.

  9. Cech
    Lichtsteiner..Mustafi..Sokratis…Monreal
    Torreira….Guendouzi
    Ramsey….Ozil…Mkhitaryan
    Aubameyang

  10. If Lichtsteiner starts ahead of Bellerin then I predict a comfortable 3-0 win to get the Emery haters scampering back into the woodwork and kick start our campaign properly. If Bellerin starts though it will be a needlessly difficult win but a win for us nonetheless! COYG!!!

  11. This should be the line up to face westham
    4-2-3-1
    Leno (GK)
    Sokratis (CB)
    Mustafi(CB)
    Stephan(RB)
    Monreal(LB)
    Torreira(CDM)
    Xhaka(CM)
    Welbeck(CAM)
    Miki(RW)
    Iwobi(LW)
    Aubameyang(CF)
    SUBS
Lacazette guendouzi ramsey bellerin cech nelson

  12. Funny how a month ago, Iwobi was the most hated player by most people here. Some even saying he is the worst player ever to don our shirt. Now, after one good game against Chelsea I see he is in every proposed line up. How can one ever take you guys seriously? You chameleons!!!

    1. very likely he will flop again, but play players who are in form. Iwobi was our best player last game and we dont have many wide options so starting him isn’t a bad decision.

  13. well it looks like Ramsey in Ozil out
    Cech.
    Bellerin Sokratis Mustafi Monreal
    Xhaka Guendouzi Ramsey
    Iwobi Mkhitaryan
    Aubameyang

    little bit of a suprise
