Is Gibbs’ problems forcing Arsenal into the transfer market?

According to the latest Arsenal transfer rumours one of the bits of business that Arsene Wenger, assuming that the Frenchman is going to be in charge for next season, will be doing is to sign a new left back and according to a Daily Mail report we are going to have to do battle with Premier League rivals Liverpool to get the player we want.

That player is the Lorient and Portugal international star Raphael Guerreiro. The 22-year old is expected to be the first choice Portuguese left back at this summer’s Euro 2016 competition and he has apparently been on Arsenal’s radar for a couple of years with former Arsenal midfielder and current scout Gilles Grimandi having watched his progress in the French league.

But while Guerreiro will be playing for his country this summer it looks like the current Arsenal left back Kieran Gibbs will be watching the international tournament from home after he was left out of the latest England squad by Roy Hodgson. I like Gibbs as a player but it is clear that Nacho Monreal is our first choice and most of Gibbs’ 15 EPL appearances this season have been as a sub and often as a makeshift winger.

At 26-years old has Gibbs finally decided that he needs to leave Arsenal to get the regular football he needs to help his international career. And if so, will Arsenal’s long standing connection with Lorient help us to beat Liverpool to the transfer of their talented young defender?

  1. Gibbs and walcott should want to move on this summer.Being both at 26 years and hopefuls to participatre in their country s international tournaments.
But then again them dwelling on huge wages and whether they have trust in their abilities makes the decision in question

  2. OX/gibbs/Theo need to go…. Ramsay and Wheelchair will stay of course. Welbeck looks strong and improving after his absence so i would like to see what he does next year but at the end of the day Wenger/Kroenke out!

This club needs a major overhaul and i don’t think wenger is the type of man who’s decisive enough both mentally and financially to deliver.

    1. Short term supporter?
Wenger rebuilt the Arsenal squad to win titles after he joined, Wenger was the end of Wrighty due to the style of play changing, Wenger wasn’t scared to spend the cash and rebuild.

The only thing that has changed is Wenger no longer gets the full support of the board to do the right thing.

Dein was forced out and the old board done everything they could to raise the share prices before they all sold, they even made a pact not to let the club be owned by a majority share holder!!! Look what happened to that!!! If you are too blind to see the obvious then let me spell it out. They all sold once they was offered enough.

Making the pact wasn’t the only tactic to bump up share prices, having cash in the bank bumps up the share prices as well, this is good for Silent Stan as he likes to get loans for new stuff secured against his ASSETS… Arsenal being one of them. Arsenal is not a love for him, it is a business.

You should of just stopped at the “I don’t think” part, clearly you do not think.

Wenger has his faults, his favoritism being his biggest fault in my eyes, thing about favoritism is that it only applies to a few otherwise they wouldn’t be favorites but just loved. That wouldn’t stop Wenger overhauling the squad if he had the backing like he used to.
