Granit Xhaka reveals how painful and frustrating fans reaction was for him

Granit Xhaka claims fans reaction was incomprehensible.

It’s safe to say Granit Xhaka and Arsenal fans will probably never enjoy a positive relationship with each other again.

The Swiss midfielder was booed off in his last game for the club and the way he handled the situation has forced the club to strip him of the captain’s armband.

He has not featured since and it seems he hasn’t gotten over the abuse he suffered from the fans. He was clearly taken aback by the vehemence of the fans reaction.

“When my shirt number lit up on the board of the fourth official and then broke jealous jubilation of their own fans. That hit me very much and stirred up,” Xhaka told Swiss newspaper Blick.

“It was very painful and frustrating. For me, this reaction is still incomprehensible, especially in this vehemence and how extremely hostile I was here.

“Since I can remember, the fans are an integral part of my sport. I have a lot of respect from the beginning for the commitment and hardships fans take to help us players”

Unai Emery claims that Xhaka asked not to be involved in their league game against Leicester City as he continues to struggle mentally. He may never be mentally ready to play for the club again.

Without the 27-year-old Arsenal was beaten 2-0 by the Foxes. They now find themselves nine points adrift of Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Top four is starting to look like a distant dream.
