Has Arsenal become too toxic to manage because of the fans?

Nobody would want to manage Arsenal because of their complaining fans – Simon Jordan.

Arsenal would struggle to replace Unai Emery if they fire the former PSG boss because of their fans, according to former Crystal Palace chairman, Simon Jordan.

Arsenal fans have grown tired of the club’s trophyless run, their dissatisfaction forced the club’s board to fire Arsene Wenger before last season and they are now demanding the sacking of Unai Emery.

Results haven’t been good for the Spaniard this season and it seems only a matter of time before he gets the sack, however, Jordan believes other managers would want to avoid the Emirates hot seat because of the club’s fans.

Jordan reckons that no one would want to manage in the kind of atmosphere that has been created by the Emirates crowd.

Speaking on the Final Word on Sunday, Jordan said: “Who would want to go into Arsenal and manage Arsenal?

“They don’t seem to have any money to buy key players; everybody knows Arsenal need a central defender, and the one thing they don’t get is a central defender of any calibre.

“Everybody knows there is an issue from the boardroom to the manager’s dugout, because clearly the relationship isn’t as good as it could be because the owners aren’t as invested in that football club as they could be.

“And the final part of it is – who would want to go and manage for a group of fans who do nothing but complain every single time they don’t like something they see.”

OK, here is my personal opinion on what Jordan has had to say and I will ignore my personal feelings towards him.

He is 100% wrong about top managers not wanting to manage Arsenal. That is utter rubbish. Managers would love to manage Arsenal, we are a massive club, one of the biggest in the world.

Yes, he is right about the fans, I have said so myself, especially about the hugely popular AFTV that allows vile and abusive language towards our own players.

It happened with Wenger and now it is happening with Emery. That cannot be denied. Whether it is right or wrong, it is a reputation that Arsenal fans are getting.

Not all of course, but certainly the more vocal ones.
