Hodgson confident that in-form Palace know they can win at Arsenal

Arsenal face another must-win game today in the race for the Top Four, but it is never easy to play against Crystal Palace, and we know they have produced some great performances away from Selhurst Park this season.

Their coach Roy Hodgson is well aware that it will be a hard game, but he also knows his own players can step up when they want to and will be fighting for the prestigious three points. Hodgson said on the Official Palace website: “Arsenal present, like Man City last weekend, a very difficult problem for you in the sense that they are very, very good and have some very, very good players. They themselves are in excellent form.

“We can be happy with three of our last four away (Premier League) games resulting in victories, that’s tremendous. But it certainly doesn’t lead me to believe it will make things any easier to go to the Emirates and play Arsenal on Sunday.

“All we can do is prepare like we always prepare and to make certain that we go there knowing that we have it in us to get the victory but also how much of an effort, a struggle and fighting we have got to do to bring off that victory.

“(I am) looking forward to the game and congratulations to Arsenal on beating Napoli home and away in two excellent performances and hoping, I suppose, their performance against us won’t be of that high of a level.”

To be honest I don’t think it will be like the game at Napoli because there will be many changes to the starting line-up, and I am still not convinced of our confidence in away League games despite our win at Watford last time out.

I don’t really care if Arsenal are impressive, I just want the three points!

  1. Exactly..just the three points is more important nowadays…i don’t give a damn about the performance…i want champions league football,i want a European trophy and I want a third place finish

    1. Yeah dude. Totally agree
All I care about is coming out of the match with 3 points.
Don’t about score that much. Just want a win.

And 3rd place and EL is def possible
At the beginning of the season I thought 6th place was a probability but we have done better than expected. I’d be so happy if we got 3rd or 4th.

And winning Europa league would be amazing

  2. I’m worried about the midfield pairing today, I’m hoping Xhaka will play alongside Torreria, because I’m scared Palace will target Guendouzi and bully him a lot.
We know physically he can be bullied easily, I’d like to see Mavropanos play again. I loved his short game last week, his height is important at defending aerial balls.

  3. If Arsenal play like the Napoli game they will win. This is a golden chance for the gunners
to close on 3rd or 4th.
Zaha could be a big danger especially if hes
    isolated.

  4. I’m on same page as the top comment, all that matters at this stage are the points at the end of our game. We will have to make changes, it does make it more tricky, but we’ll have to put some fresh legs on because Palace are a fairly fit bunch of lads. They have pace, stamina, and physicality. Hopefully both Auba and Laca will start, we’ll want to take our chances and put it to bed rather than seeing a tight game, those two are difficult to contain esp at home. Someone might have to pick up Zaha and shadow him throughout.

  5. You know I think emery didn’t just change the mentality of the players and the club but also the fan’s mentality as well. It’s amazing to see so many fans say they want a win over a pretty performance, under wenger its was play the Arsenal way even if you lose it’s fine just make it pretty to watch and earlier in the season we were even hounding emery because our performances weren’t always pretty on the eyes. This man is breeding a culture of winning and winning at all costs, and I like it
