Let’s make a few things clear by Mr. Admin
A few days ago, KickAssFan wrote a comment aimed at me, and I feel that it is time that I responded in an honest way and tried to clear up a few misconceptions about me and my Wonderful Website 🙂
Here is what KickAssFan wrote: Why do articles primarily get posted on this site? Well, mainly because fans should read and express their views. We all visit the official site of Arsenal, but they are very selective about what they post there– just like government owned broadcast stations, they only want you to read and see what they want you to– they try to control your perception.
But when you visit a site like JustArsenal that is supposed to be mainly for the fans, that’s supposed to allow every fan express his opinion about Arsenal, irrespective of his perspective, that’s supposed to post everything about Arsenal, whether positive or negative, and you realise there are certain views they (JustArsenal Admin crew, backed by a number of pro-Wenger fans) “expect” you to stick to the so called “positives”, (even when there’s nothing majorly positive worth holding onto) and they perceive you as a negative and distortive influence on the site when you refuse to applaud the negatative happenings in the club, you are left dazed…
I do have some seemingly rhetorical questions: At what point should one stop complaining about a particular problem? Does it mean that just because someone is your friend, boss or even your father, you should not point out the person’s errors or wrong doings, particularly when they are repetitive or seemingly deliberately done?
Do you think some fans are taking things too personally? Then you are right and here’s why: Fans pay for the seats at the Emirates, fans pay to view these matches on tv, fans purchase the club’s merchandise with their hard earned cash, fans pay for internet subscriptions to follow the club online, FANS PAY FOR EVERYTHING.
The board does not run the club for free. Wenger IS AN EMPLOYED STAFF. The players are being paid stupendous sums weekly. But how about us, the fans? Ours is to spend. SPEND! SPEND! SPEND! We even spend our emotions on the club– a very tasky task. Some fans do bet on the club; do you expect such fans to be merry when the club loses, like we did against Swansea?
So…. to start with let me begin with my philosophy when I started this website many years ago. I believe that ALL Arsenal fans should be allowed to express their views and I provide this platform to allow their opinions to be discussed by Gooners all over the world. And I mean DISCUSS, not a platfom to abuse anyone who doesn’t agree with your personal opinion. I rarely delete comments and then only because I feel they are extra abusive and totally out of context to the discussion. Hell, enough of you say some very nasty things about ME just for publishing a view they disagree with!
Secondly the readers need to understand that, although Bob and I publish the articles, I would hazard a guess that nearly half of the articles published are written and sent in to me, by YOU, the readers themselves, and I always provide the names or initials of the writer. I publish EVERY story sent to me if they have a point to make (whether I agree or not) unless they are grammatically unbearable (I am a stickler for spelling and grammar I’m afraid). So not ALL the articles are written by me or anything to do with my opinion.
I am NOT an AKB or an AOB, I just want whatever is best for Arsenal IN MY OPINION, and my opinion now (which may change in the future) is that it is not good for the club to sack Wenger (or any manager) in the middle of any season. That doesn’t mean that I won’t listen to other peoples objections and call them idiots!
I was a regular at Highbury from the days of Frankie McLintock, Charlie George, Johnny Radford et al, so I have seen many managers come and go, but that doesn’t affect my loyalty to Arsenal. I have changed girlfriends and lovers many many times over the years, but for me it is impossible to switch allegiance to another club, no matter how badly Arsenal are performing, so we just have to deal with what we have in front of us.
According to various opinion polls at different times recently, including my one on JustArsenal, there are slightly more AKB’s than AOB’s in the world, so I am finding it hard to understand why a majority of my commenters (You lot!) are totally Anti-Wenger, and that is why I sometimes go out of my way to represent the silent majority at times. I DO NOT want my site to be off-limits to half of the Arsenal fanbase just because they get abused by the AOBs.
Right now Arsenal are going through a hard time, whoever you blame, but the fact is that we have been in bad places before, but Wenger has ALWAYS managed to turn it around and get us back into the Top Four. We should allow him to work his magic again until the end of the season and then re-assess the situation.
Until then please just support the team and encourage them to finish as high in the table as possible.

PS Also, as an experiment, I am going to use a Tag of AOB or AKB, depending on the article, for the month of December, and then we can get an accurate figure on which way the content on the site is leaning. It is easy to make an unsupported misconception, so it is better to gather facts first. For instance a reader labelled JustArsenal as JustRumours earlier, but the fact is that only SIX of the last SIXTY are rumour articles. Do you see what I mean?

I’ve been in that category all along. But as soon as one does not agree with an AOB 100%, or say that they even like AW(as I have done on numerous occasions) then they are automatically deemed to be AKB.
For real, according to this site, you are either a AKB or AOB and nothing in between. You say anything positive about Wenger and all of a sudden you are laballed a AKB. You can’t be sn Arsenal fan or appreciate Wenger without being labelled..

My opinion is simple we have enough money and a high enough wage structure to actually be competing for the league and champions league.
If Mourinho was our manager sad as it it because I detest him at times he would have us competitive in both.
Wenger is simply not as good a manger as Mourinho.
The real question is could another manager with the stadium support and financial muscle we have improve us!?????

Iv pretty much written this season of already never know maybe another trip to Wembley for me for the FA cup finale would be nice again but realistically we could easily finish outside the top 4 and get bombed out of all the cups.
Wengers squad management is horrendous!!!!
Hardly any defenders loads of midfielders who like to attack and most of our players are brittle and weak minded.
There’s no need to sack Wenger mid season we will see whether there are signs of improvement over the season but realistically does anyone trust Wenger to spend properly in the summer!!??? And make the acquisitions we require I don’t!!!

With the way things are going, I think the players sooner or later will loose their believe in Wenger and our best players (Sanchez, Kos, ..etc) are not going to stick much longer without real trophies … Wenger should resign end of this season and save his history and Arsenal … I would say new manager is the most important signing next summer.
Even if you are so called AKB, you have to agree to the fact that Wenger (now) need more pressure in order to get his cheque out and sign quality players … So yes more banners are welcomed

This is what’s fundamentally wrong with Arsenal and Arsenal fans. Re-assessing the situation in May only means most of the fans will say ‘yeah, let’s give Wenger this season to buy the necessary players’. What will actually happen is he will buy top name player (Özil, Sanchez) though completely disregarding an area we actually need strengthening. People get excited and realizes on September 1st, “Hey, where the f-ck is our CDM?”
Wenger’s magic nowadays means The Wenger Trophy, the 4th place. Arsenal fans are satisfied with that though we are playing the worst season in decades and out of the title race, again, in November.
Problem is, can we remember all the humiliating defeats, lack of tactics, failures at the transfer window next May when we secure Champions League spot and celebrate it like complete tools? MR Admin, can you promise to publish an article in May, actually re-assessing the situation and not forgetting the failures of this and past seasons of Arsene?

and truly support Arsenal. We eventually, all are Arsenal fans, and will be until death. Our task is to support them, as our first responsibility and then criticize them.
I am saying it now, and I will say it in the future also.
Also, the season is not over yet, anything can happen from now or after New Year, anyone can grab top place, decided over their form. Its just seems now that Chelsea will go win the Premier League, maybe unbeatable, but still its a marathon, nothing else, with a tough competition, fighting for top 4 spot. Even a win, lose or draw, table can fluctuate very easily.
So, lets back the team to do their best, and if we hit top form, who knows around Feb, we can be back in title race. Its hard, but not impossible to drop points by Chelsea, be it a draw, or lose. From now onwards, we only have to focus on 3 points, at very least draw, if all things got against us.

Wenger may have seriously helped get sanchez to join arsenal however I believe the reasons he came to us over pool are simple: where would you rather live liverpool orthe capital London? Secondly the Arsenal brand is to play exciting football and we’ve had cl for a longer time than pool. Wenger was not the resson but he no doubt helped. I give wenger the Jan window to do what’s needed and we’ll see where we are come May. Regardless of where we end up in the table I want a different managing style now dare I say mourinho like: adapative and flexible to adjust team selection for each opponent and to make pro active subs during games. Also a manaager who is more demonstrative and passionate during games, effective during transfer windows and not stubborn and biased towards his players.
@Ronny.. You don’t even realise that you are contradicting yourself. You are saying Sanchez joined Arsenal not because of Wenger but because of the brand of exciting football, Arsenal being in the CL season in season out. But who made that possible? Graham George or Bruce Rioch? Etc..
Wenger has stagnated us and he has to be reassessed come the end of the season, get rid of him now and we might regret it.

Well said ADMIN! For me this site is too often used by the
AOB’s.
No issue with that per se, but the unfortunate reality is that ‘their’ comments are often just insulting, hopelessly unrealistic or divisive with no purpose. They shout loudest and often seem unable to simply enjoy the positives when they happen. Ffs there aren’t many at the moment so I just find it depressing.
Arsenal and our fans always enjoyed a reputation as a club and fan base who were knowledgeable and classy. Unfortunately the noisy few are increasingly making Arsenal fans look like spoilt, unrealistic, insulting and untelligent fools.
There á comes a point (certainly before we’ve even reached mid season!!) where, other than intelligent comment, quite frankly I don’t want to fcuking hear it tbh.
As for the point about the balance between AKB’s and AOB’s, personally I think there are many more pro, than anti Wenger (wherever you sit on the scale). However it is always the disaffected in society who shout loudest and that’s exactly what they are doing. How you’ll ever get an impartial assessment of how these numbers stack up is a big question.

I have visited JustArsenal from the very first articles, even gave some advice on the early publication by this site because I felt it would not survive. I have watched it evolve from your early hardwork which you slogged on with in the face of criticism to the Bob era which was not so much my cup of tea, mainly because Bob is obsessed with a few things and incessantly bangs on about them … an example being “Theo needs to be a striker” and “Theo has to be given a chance to play through the middle” and “Is Theo correct to refuse a new contract until he is allowed to play up front” and “Would Arsenal be in this mess if Theo was given the chance to be a loan striker?” …. the Theo theme and other obsessiions was tough to read through and so visited less.
After articles by other fans were being published more frequently than Bob’s efforts I returned every now and again. I liked some of Bob’s stuff, I just didn’t feel Bob was the fan he needed to be for an Arsenal website. Many things he wrote supported this, not least being his non-awareness Walcott had been given plenty of chances up front.
I vouch for Pat’s honesty above, he is not a holier than thou twat, he gives fans free licence within reason to be constructively criticial about Arsenal, whether positive or negative. I’ve pushed his patience a few times but never managed to cross the line which got me banned.
As for AKB troopers I got bored a long time ago pointing out why he doesn’t and as for the AOB, I have been one occasionally but like Pat, I have always wanted him to see out the season we were currently in. Today I feel it is a waiting time for Wenger’s current contract to wind down. I believe it is his last one. I also feel if we finish 6th in May we can not sack Wenger because what he has done at Arsenal is world renowned. All my grandsons are Arsenal Fans and currently Wenger to them is what Terry Neill was to me at their age, but Wenger’s lagacy will be known to them and all future generations of Arsenal fans, just like Chapman is to us …. which makes it impossible for Arsenal to be known then for repaying Wenger with the sack. Geeez, just imagine that, especially if the club nosedives after the sacking. The consequences are unfathomable.
I think the problem is with the aobs. I have noticed that more sensible comments come from akbs. The aobs usually feel challenged when the akbs raise an issue to be debated and they result to abuse since they dont have anything to talk other than insulting people.
@tope. Not 100% true. I am leaning towards being an aob but realise it needs to be done carefully/be planned. I usually back up my comments with reason and welcome a healthy respectful debate. Please dont tar all aobs with the same brush!
Arsene will definitely finish the season with Arsenal unless something unusual happens which l doubt. He has 3years contract still rolling ,But no matter what happens,we are stuck with Wenger for another 2 seasons after this one.Even after He leaves,his memmories will not be forgotten.but l am of the opinion that he retires at the end of the season,4th is not the best.

A well written response, and I just want to say that I do (as I’m sure every other reader does) appreciate having such a platform for discussion. The one part of the article that irked me slightly was:

I said to a friend 3- seasons ago in response to his question over whether I wanted Wenger to remain manager that I would give him until the end of the season and hopefully he would have make the necessary acquisitions and we’d go again next year. Granted Cazorla, Podolski and Cazorla have been decent-good signings, that summer saw the departure of RVP and Song (albeit probably necessarily so at the time). We then proceeded to finish fourth again, and carry on into the next season. The cyclical nature of Wenger’s reign is the most frurstrating part and is, in my opinion, the core reason behind the backlash. I am a huge admirer of Wenger, but struggle to defend him when his mistakes are so blatant and there is an apparent unwillingness to learn from them. As Einstein famously stated: “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
I think the banner at the West Brom game said it all. Every Arsenal fan appreciates what Wenger has done for the club but we need a change. I’m sure the board won’t sack him mid season but its in the best interest of the club to look for a new manager to take over at the end of the season.
