Matteo Guendouzi has definitely been the most surprising of Arsenal’s summer arrivals, and after starting every one of the Gunners first four matches he has been rewarded with our first Player-Of-The-Month trophy of the 2018/19 season.
In the vote on Arsenal.com, Guendouzi received an amazing 68 per cent of the votes cast, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Petr Cech finishing a well-beaten second and third place respectively.
Considering he is only 19 years old and was playing in Ligue 2 just last season, he has looked confident and assured in his transition to the Premier League, and he revealed this week that he has always been a Gooner. “Arsenal is the club of my heart, the club I’ve supported since I was little,” he said.
“I grew up watching, along with my grandfather, videos of Vieira, Henry and the others, the French players who made history. When I knew the club was interested in bringing me in, I didn’t hesitate.”
“It’s another world. Arsenal are an historic club, magnificent, known the world over, one of the best in Europe with big stars in the team. It’s difficult to describe, but it’s another dimension. Everything has changed,”
You cannot doubt that he has been a big surprise package, but has he really been Arsenal’s best player in August?

I agree, because he worked very hard in the field, despite some big mistakes
I hope he knows how to maintain his stamina though, if he keeps playing like that
Lacazette also put a lot of effort at Cardiff, therefore I hope they would do it again at Newcastle
He has started the best way I can think off, I already feel pride when I see him wear our colours, he has done tremendously well and I bet many of us gooners are bouncing with excitement… we can’t praise the lad enough 😉
Of course I do read people talking about keeping our feet on the ground and not overhype, we got to let the lad progress and grow into the footballer his potential is showing.
Well done Guendouzi, it is a pleasure to watch your passion, I’m keeping my fingers and toes crossed that you don’t flop.
It’s nice to see the youngsters do well they are our footballing future …he has been the one player who has constantly stood out in not only the league games but our freindlies too …I know he made some glaring mistakes ….but he made them because he was trying ..I would rather we lost fighting for every ball than not at all …he seems like a fighter and it’s what we need ..well done guendouzi you deserve it ….I just wish some of the established players would try as hard as he has some of the other player mentioned have had good games …as established professionals it’s expected that there high standards stay high ..so we’ll done keep it up ..but guendouzi has just started and it’s all new …he’s handled it well and has been a joy to watch he’s enthusiasm stands out a mile …I hope it’s the first of many for him
Really pleased for him
Looking forward for his partnership with toierra
a midfield trio of Torreira, guendouzi and ramsey will eventually be this season line up. all have great stamina, work hard, help in defence. Not the most technically gifted midfield in the epl but if we have 3 of mkhi, auba, ozil and laca in front we can afford it. torreira has good ball control to get out of tight spaces, guendouzi tackles and intercepts a lot and ramsey gives us forward runs and goals.
ramsey ball control and dribbling have improved this season and he is losing possession less often although he still takes time to release the ball especially in counterattacks.
and a silverware to crown his stay..
Players like Xhaka and Ramsey need to learn off this kid. Foward passing, Xhaka could learn, and not taking at least 5 touches before making a decision, Ramsey could learn.
By next season, Gwendouzi will be a delight to watch. The coach can pair Torreira, Gwendouzi and Ramsey in the midfield. Then Lacazzette, aubameyang and ozil/mikitariyan/iwobi/welback can start the attack…. please, when we start winning matches, Bellarin should be substituted with lecheinstner.
Agreed and Emery should consider pairing Mavrapanos and sokratis or holding and yes Bellerin should definitely be benched i think 98% of fans will agree with that i still don’t understand why Emery hasn’t started the more experienced and stronger right back in Lichtensteiner bellerin has been a liability since 2015
