Matteo Guendouzi easily wins Arsenal’s Player of The Month for August

Matteo Guendouzi has definitely been the most surprising of Arsenal’s summer arrivals, and after starting every one of the Gunners first four matches he has been rewarded with our first Player-Of-The-Month trophy of the 2018/19 season.

In the vote on Arsenal.com, Guendouzi received an amazing 68 per cent of the votes cast, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Petr Cech finishing a well-beaten second and third place respectively.

Considering he is only 19 years old and was playing in Ligue 2 just last season, he has looked confident and assured in his transition to the Premier League, and he revealed this week that he has always been a Gooner. “Arsenal is the club of my heart, the club I’ve supported since I was little,” he said.

“I grew up watching, along with my grandfather, videos of Vieira, Henry and the others, the French players who made history. When I knew the club was interested in bringing me in, I didn’t hesitate.”

“It’s another world. Arsenal are an historic club, magnificent, known the world over, one of the best in Europe with big stars in the team. It’s difficult to describe, but it’s another dimension. Everything has changed,”

You cannot doubt that he has been a big surprise package, but has he really been Arsenal’s best player in August?
