Official Arsenal XI for Chelsea – Alexis Sanchez only makes bench

I am guessing that Arsene Wenger is still being ultra cautious with the Arsenal and Chile international forward, because if Alexis Sanchez is fit enough to make the Arsenal bench today for the visit of Chelsea, then I would assume that he is match fit and should have no problem playing 90 minutes.

But if the boss wants to make sure that this key player does not suffer another injury setback then we cannot complain or second guess him. The fact that the Gunners have the star of the season so far, Mesut Ozil, back in the starting line up makes it easier for the Frenchman to be careful with Alexis.

Hopefully the German will work his creative magic and with Ramsey, Walcott, Campbell and Giroud to fire the ammunition he provides the boss will be able to bring the dynamic Chilean on at his leisure. I am a little surprised to see that our new signing Elneny is not even on the bench and hope that he has not joined the injury list before kicking a ball in anger for Arsenal.

Cech
Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal
Flamini, Ramsey
Campbell, Ozil, Walcott
Giroud

Subs: Ospina, Chambers, Gibbs, Gabriel, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Alexis.

Get stuck into them Arsenal, we really need this win to keep up the pace in the title race.

  1. Per is a complete moron.
Why look at koscielny then commit the foul that will then get him sent off?
The elephant man was through on goal. He still had Čech to beat. Ruined the game from that moment.

  2. One thing Chelsea do best is defending and that is the worst thing about this match now. 10 man and trying to score against such defence is incredibly tough. I have very little hope of getting anything from this match.

    The Chelsea Curse continues.

  3. Wenger is never serious when it comes to the final push in big games… Absolute rubbish! Quite frankly, Leicester City plays with a lot more energy and know how to push a team to its breaking point even when they are down. I frankly have yet to see anything that convinces me that we can win the league this season, EXCEPT for the performance against Manchester United!

  4. costa might have exaggerated the dive a bit, but i still blame wenger cause you never bring a tortoise (mertesacker) to a horse race and still expect to win…..

and why o why withdraw campbell and keep that idiot walcott on the pitch?

  5. Is anyone really surprised … Despite facing a team in the bottom 8 wenger put out a defensive team … The man lacks ambition it’s that simple

  6. We are going to feed on scraps for the rest of this game… I hope we make use of the one or two chances we’ll get for the rest of the game.

  7. in hindsight it would have been better with Giroud on and Walcott off earlier as Walcott AGAIN did not use his pace.

  8. Thats it guys!! At least we will be fighting for 3rd rather than usual 4th. So that is something.

  9. Getting off Giroud and keeping Walcott was the right decision LOGICALLY. With Zouma and Terry, pace works better than physicality. But pity the option for pace is Walcott who never uses it.

  10. Why buy a player and not play him? Why dose AW always get it wrong 3-3 then 0-0 and now yet again we lose to the blues. No we can’t win the EPL with out a CF and a new CB end of. I’m getting so fed up with this. The blues can pay for a win but yet play us and bang

  11. Rusty Sanchez comes off injury after 2 months and gives a MOTM performance. Other players should take cup of water and drown to shame. English players can take a cup of tea!!

    1. Positives from today:
We didn’t lose 0-6, Sanchez got some game time, Mertesacker can’t play for a while due to suspension, (only way Wenger will start Gabriel!).

  12. Would have liked to see Elneny today, a player slightly unknown to the opposition may have been useful.
Move on we lost but there are plenty of games left! #not over until it’s over

  13. Where r all the slavish wenger fools on this site …2 points from last 9 ….Walcott world class Ramsey to barca merts positional sense give ox game time flamini doing a good job … Give me a break … All as clueless as wenger about what constitutes winning fball …sad fan base that has put up with this sh@@ for so long

  14. Thank God it ended 0-1. The boys showed up better in the second half and we all know Chelsea is good with defending a lead.

  15. Chelsea’s worst f**king season and we still score a goal!!! How the the f**k are supposed to go to work tomorrow?

  16. I really hope Leicester and Spurs don’t finish above us. It will be very hard to take in. We could not win Stoke yet Leicester thrashed them 3-0. We could beat Southhampton who were in a terrible form when we played them. We could not beat Liverpool who conceded 4 goals against Norwich.

  17. Wenger you are ruining a good club with your stubbornness, your ignorance and your arrogance. I am totally fed up with it.

  18. Manager at fault but he will not admitted as usual.Anyone beat Chleasea but not us..the worse chelsea team in a decade and from start we look average to go for it..DO NOT BRING TH RED CARD as it would not have made any difference to our approach whatsoever…NO 2 YEARS EXTENSION at all..Buy what we know is needed for years and Get the hell out our beloved team..4 place is what you all are happy at..even Leicester will be around there and SPUDS..so europa league here we come..

  19. After this game……

Per can get f****d if he thinks he is getting the captain armband after Arteta leaves.
Walcott 10 years at the club woohoo good for you son. Let me just remind you that offsides do NOT count as goals.
Even with 11 men on the field we were useless with and without the ball. Clueless when we got to the final third.
I saw three opportunities in Chelsea’s box today where we should of at least got a shot away. We didn’t.

Games like these at home we need to win full stop.
    It’s not good enough.

  20. Southampton, Leicester, Man U and Spurs in our next 6 league games. We are fucked. Goodbye title. 3 points above Spurs who was 9 points behind 2 months ago.
