Spanish giants prepared to test Arsenal resolve to hold on to huge asset

Barcelona reported to preparing to test Arsenal’s determination to keep Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang at the Emirates.

Arsenal faces a tough job in trying to convince Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to ignore Barcelona this month as the Spaniard’s are set to make a move for him.

Barcelona is in the market for a new attacker after the long term injury to Luis Suarez and they see Aubameyang as their top target, according to Mirror Sports.

Aubameyang has stalled on signing a new deal at the Emirates and there is a chance that he would leave Arsenal if a bigger team competing in the Champions League came calling.

Aubameyang has reiterated his desire to remain at Arsenal and also claimed that he loves life at the Emirates but his reluctance to sign renewed terms is at odds with his claims.

The Gunners captain said: “People like making up stories and they should focus on what’s happening on the pitch. They talk too much and it does my head in!

“I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club. I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs.”

Nice words but until a new contract is signed the rumours cannot be so easily dismissed. Arsenal would be put in a terrible position if Barca offers a significant amount of money for a player that has a contract that is starting to run down.

The risk of losing him for nothing would be just too great for them to ignore a big offer.

    1. The board should start contract talks with Martinelli immediately. Give him a reasonably good one too and for maximum years if possible I’d say…

      1. Martinelli is already on a 5-year contract, I think.
He ain’t going anywhere in the next 2 – 3 years.
So we should wait at least one year before improving his contract so his hunger doesn’t get extinguished too soon. Happens too often with young players – just look at a whole army of English players having flopped after being overpaid too soon.

On Auba: he may stay if we win the EL and qualify for the CL plus increase his salary to 250K.
On the other hand, who in their right mind would decline Barcelona?

  1. Frank lampard singled out ozil of causing chelsea issues..

Ozil was given very bad ratings by fans

    the fans know best always

    Lampard giving fake news?

    1. Arsenal looked far better once Ozil was off the pitch, that answers any questions about Ozil’s contribution against Chelsea.

Ozil should be considered one of the, if not, the biggest flop in Premier League history. Other players have been worse, but once you factor in the huge financials over his 7 years in the league against productivity, only one conclusion is available.

      1. Could not agree more Third Man. A huge flop with just one top season from six and a half. I cannot wait til his contract is at an end in summer of 2021. We are probably stuck with his wages bill for virtually no real return til then. Thanks a BUNCH FOR NOTHING THEN, GAZIDIS!

  2. Wasn’t it Auba who publicly stated a desire to play for real Madrid? If he goes back on his word, I can see him struggle in Spain. But then again, nowt to do with us other than him leaving

  3. I think it would be a player’s dream to play for teams like barca and RM.Top players all around.Good payments and a huge fan base(less hostile and more supportive than many around the world). The leagues pace and tempo is very well ok for his age and unlike EPL it works on more tactical game plans so would suit Auba.

I dont know if Auba will go but i see him working hard to make Arsenal successful until he goes.I RESPECT that CAPTAIN.

      1. Sven
I think Stevo is an attention seeker
He rarely writes anything sensible and I fell into the trap of responding to him
        Not now though

  4. A way to keep Aubameyang is to show ambition by signing more top quality players. For starters, we can bid for Rakitic, Thomas Partey and Lewis Dunk this January.

  5. I think he should look what Barcelona done to vermanlan.. Hleb.. Fabregas..
Sometimes you are better to be a big fish in a medium pond.
Than being a medium fish in a big pond..
At his age he needs to be no 1 striker and he won’t be that at barca…

  6. I’d sell him if the offer was right. 30 years old and we need funds to invest. we could turn him into 3 quality players.
