We have a new contender for Arsenal’s first signing of the summer (plus video)

It was pedicted the other day that Emery’s first signing of the summer would be the Argentine centre-back Gabriel Martinelli, but today another contender has emerged for that accolade as the Genk winger Leandro Trossard has also announced that he is likely to be on the move this summer, with Arsenal said to be one of the favourites to sign him.

Speaking ahead of Genk’s final match of the season, the 24 year-old said: “Sunday’s game against Standard Liege might be my last one in a Genk shirt.”

That would indicate that he is already in discussions with clubs, which was confirmed by his agent Josy Comhair, who was quoted as saying in November: “I contacted representatives from Arsenal and Tottenham. With Tottenham, nobody wanted to confirm that Trossard is an option, but with Arsenal,”

“They told me that Leandro has a very interesting profile for them and that they have been following him since August.

They ended the phone call with: “They are keeping a close eye on him”.

It was well known in January that the Gunners were trying hard to get a winger, with approaches made for Persic and Carrasco, and with Leandro’s age and excellent form this season, he is a real contender to be our first signing.

If you have not seen him in action, then watch this new video from Brazil Scout highlighting his skills….

  1. His teammates can miss good chances. He appears good in the video but we have seen better performances in videos

  2. OT just looking on Arsenal news for any transfer news… Ziyech is being mentioned, as he’s supposedly an Arsenal fan & has a 25m release clause… and if that wasn’t exciting enough, Zaha has been mentioned too…. oh I’d love a bit of Wilf… these transfer rumours are really toying with me!!!
I know they more than likely won’t happen, but damn!!!

    1. There is no way ever I will buy Zaha or Dunk those are just two overrated players. Ziyech and Trossard yes!!

      1. ??Zaha’s price is ridiculous; let him go back to Man U. I would prefer Fraser.
Zlyech and Trossand would be great and affordable options.
Remind me again why Arsenal left Highbury?

    2. I would love Ziyech! Get used to it Sue. You know what it’s like around season ticket renewal time. We’ll get linked with everyone, then probably just sign the next Sanago on a free.

      1. Tbh I’d love both of them!! You’re right though TMJW.. for the time being we can dream though hey?! Haha!!

        1. Kev, where are ya when we need you, sort us out. Who we signing? Don’t keep us in limbo

    3. Since a conman (Wenger) left we will have a very good transfer window I really have huge hope with Raul since he used to run things at Barcelona, he will go out and close a deal on the same day unlike Wenger and Dick Law would take them 1 year or wait will a last minute and come out with lies like we didn’t get a quality players while at the same time you players like Jenko who can’t pass, dribble or shoot.

  3. He could be a cheaper option for the left wing. His Market value is under £13 million, so we could get him for less than £20 million.

Aubameyang has been playing RW but he is a striker, not a winger. Also Welbeck’s future is in doubt. I Would love to see Bellerin play RW. He is more of an attacking player than defender. Before Injuries he had more assists than Ozil this season.

So we could spend less on a left winger on Trossard and spend more on a right winger

He can play both left and centre, so he’s versatile player. He hasn’t set the world on fire but he would be an improvement in what we have

We need a RW too because Iwobi and Mkhitaryan are not the answer.

We need BOTH a RW and LW as well as CAM and CM. Other than DM we need a whole new midfield really

  4. If Real Madrid comes calling for Auba and put an offer of around 70mln I would sell because of his age since he will be 30yrs and use that money to bring in good players and make squad width bigger we need to start being smart including stop letting players run their contract Ozil, Sanchez and Ramsey

  5. I’ll favor Ziyech,Sarr,Trossard & Fraser to be signed to replace Iwobi, mikhi & Welbeck then get Partey,Umtiti,Manolas & tagliafico then I guess we’re good to go for the title I mean it but only after winning the Europa League.

  6. really Baaczy hiw much is that will we have spent . Just buy ziyech ,koulibally ,fraser, claude maurice, trossard and stuani

  7. Given our budget, realistic targets I’d like to see yes get are:

    Tierney – LB
    Maguire – CB
    Doucoure – DM/CM
    Fraser – LW/RW

Apart from Maguire, they wouldn’t cost that much. So with the transfer budget, and what we make from sales (unlike the previous regime, there will be sales for once), I think we could go big on Maguire.

  8. I’m sure Palace would love to swindle us for the “already failed at a big club” Zaha! But then again we only act big as a club by giving wages away without the incentive to compete ???

  9. Add Saliba of st Ettein and Manolas of Roma, the list continues to increase by the day, even Carasco has been mentioned, hopefully we woundnt wait long before the deals are sealed

  10. This guy looks decent. I think with some pacy wingers we could be closer to becoming the real deal, it would suit our play perfectly.

Agreed with others here – we do need both a LW and RW this window. We also need a decent CAM or CM and a CB. However I don’t see us having the funds for all of them.

Will be interesting to see which positions the club prioritise.
