Tottenham and Arsenal reportedly both aiming for the same Premier League midfielder

If you were to predict where Everton midfielder Amadou Onana will play next, Arsenal and Tottenham would reportedly be the two sides to go with.

Amadou Onana has wowed Toffees fans in the Premier League for several seasons. Despite Everton’s ups and downs in the PL, the Belgian international has stood out.

Those who follow the 22-year-old describe him as a combative, ball-winning center midfielder known for his physicality, aerial skill, and ability to intercept and pass possession efficiently.

Everton are apparently willing to let him move for around £45 million. And according to Caught Offside, this should be good news for Newcastle, Arsenal, and Tottenham, both of which have him high on their transfer lists.

According to the publication, Arsenal had the midfielder on their radar in the winter, but unlike some reports, they did not make any actual moves to secure his services.

Aside from Spurs, Arsenal, and Newcastle, Barcelona are admirers of the former Lille midfielder, but they may struggle to seal his deal due to their financial constraints, as they cannot spend heavily due to FFP.

Everton would prefer that the midfielder join Barcelona rather than a Premier League opponent, but this is unlikely. It is clear that Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle have a financial advantage in this contest.

If Onana joins, he will undoubtedly be a significant refreshment to the Arsenal midfield. As flexible as he is, it may simply be up to Mikel Arteta to know where to field him alongside Declan Rice and Martin Odegaard.

  1. Spurs wasted their money competing with us on Yves Bissouma, and now they’re going to do it all over again? Bring it on!

  2. Onana is not a bad choice for midfield depth. I would not want him as a starter though. He can play DM, B2B, and a good option to rotate.

45 million is good business for him at 22, and having him, Rice, and Zubimendi in a rotation helps to keep them from being overplayed.

If Partey, Jorginho, and Elneny leave, we have to replace at least 2 of them. Zubimendi and Onana could do the job for us.

  3. “if Partey, Jorginho and Elneny leave, we have to at least replace 2 of them. Zubimendi abduction Onana could do the job for us”
But how can 2 dmfs in the world class quality of Thomas Partey and top quality Jorginho leave Arsenal’s midfield department at the same time in one transfer window?
As a matter of honest opinion but not selfishilly motivated nor inclined.. If I have my ways at Arsenal. Surely, I will keep Partey. Who still has a full season to run on his deal with Arsenal.
And I will also keep Jorginho for another year. Whose contract with Arsenal ends this season. And if Arsenal will activate the one year option on his deal with them.
Only God knows if Arsenal will sign or not sign Amadou Onana next summer window.
But if they submit a bid to Everton his club side to sign him. Us will know that they are after to sign him to join Arsenal next summer.

  4. Having watched Onana with my scouting cap on ,on numerous occasions , I would not recommend him as a potential recruit.Basically, for a player with immense physical attributes, he fails to impose himself in matches and seems content to recycle the ball without making any meaningful passes. To be fair, he does have good positional sense, but unlike Rice he rarely drives forward with the ball in order to create space and commit the opposition. In essence, like Luiz of Villa, I think he is over-rated.

    1. Grandad, I agree massively and will go further, by saying I consider there is absolutely NO chance whatseove of MA being at all interested in him.
      Thank goodness too!

  5. Bruno Guimaraes is the one I want I believe he and Rice with Odegaard would take us up a level

  6. What about Fofana of Monaco. I believe he’s better than the above-mentioned examples.
