Arsenal fans may be a bit miffed to hear that only two players from Arsenal have been included in the all-time Premier League team picked by the football legend that is Zinedine Zidane, but it could be worse. Our north London rivals Tottenham do not have a single place and neither do the big spending Man City.
Maybe the current Real Madrid manager has been a bit too busy in recent years to keep tabs on what is going on with English football, because all of the 11 players in the team are no longer playing in the Premier League and most of them have hung up their boots completely.
Perhaps that is why the XI picked by Zidane is dominated by former Man United stars, with no fewer than six and four of the back five. The two Gunners that the Frenchman went for were fellow countryman and former international team mates of his as well, although you would not get too many apart from fans of the Spuds who argued that Patrick Vieira and Thierry Henry were not worthy of their places. Here is the full team.
G. Neville, Ferdinand, Stam, A. Cole
Gerrard, Vieira, Makelele, Scholes
I suppose Arsenal could also claim the left back Ashely Cole as he was a part of the invincible EPL winning team, but I would rather not. Which other Arsenal stars do you think should be in a Premier League all time XI?
