Rough with the smooth? Arsenal boss agrees to stay and fix problem squad

Arsene Wenger is believed to have agreed a new two year deal following talks with the Arsenal owners, but must rehaul the squad in the meantime.

There has been much speculation regarding the future of Wenger in recent months, with many fans even moving to protest that he leave, as well as flying a banner over the stadium during their recent loss to West Brom.

Following the match, the Gunners boss moved to reveal that a decision would be announced on his future soon, further adding fuel to the speculative fire, and the news sources have all made their own claims.

Originally it was stated that he had agreed a one-year extension, and the latest was a supposed two-year deal having been agreed, and the latest agrees with the latter.

Crunch talks have supposedly taken place between Wenger and club owner Stan Kroenke, and the duo have managed to agree a new contract which will see Arsene stay in charge until the summer of 2019, whilst also agreeing to rehaul the squad.

Alexis Sanchez is already expected to leave the club at the end of season, having so far refused to extend his contract which is due to expire in under 18 months time, while a number of others are also linked with exits.

The Chilean looks to be the first name out the door this summer, and should reports prove to be true, he may be followed by a number of fellow team-mates.

Many Arsenal fans will be frustrated with the decision to extend his contract, but they will be happy if the rehauling reports prove to come true, with many of our current crop seemingly weak mentally, and not good enough to lead us to Premier League glory.

We need a new striker, a new holding midfielder and a replacement for Alexis who has that special talent, and we also need more leaders brought into the side who can fire us up on the pitch, while also replacing any of the dead wood.

Would you be happy knowing that the squad will be getting a rehaul, even if it is still the same man in charge? Can Wenger turn it around and leave us in a strong position in two years time?

  1. Another two years of misery

In the summer we need minimum
    1. Replace Alexis with equal quality
    2. A top prolific CF
    3. A Top defensive midfielder
    4. Top LB
    5. Backup RB

WE could also use another quality CB

We would be lucky if Wenger got two of the above.

We need a squad overhaul because of Wenger’s incompetence in the tratransfer market by getting loads of average players

We need to get rid of few too.

Sad two years ahead of us

  2. Nothing confirmed yet, so there is some hope. But if Wenger does sign, then the protests need to get bigger.

Makes me laugh that people think there’s going to be an overhaul of the squad, when Wenger’s already given the likes of Mertesacker a contract extension, has openly said he wants to keep the likes Wilshere, and describes Walcott as world class! Wenger’s had the opportunity to overhaul his squad over the last four years, but refused to because of his ego. He wants to prove to people that he can win with deadwood players, that is failed British core experiment can be a success. Problem is, he fails spectacularly every season, and people still think he can change.

It’s ridiculous to think that Wenger can get us out of this mess, when he’s the one that’s got us into it! Wenger’s only ambition is Champions League qualification, and that’s it!

  3. Feck off Wenger already

If he is at Arsenal come the next season I will no longer be.

West Brom fans want Wenger to stay though as do most other premier league fans from an opposing side!

More unmotivated players, capitulations, tactical nativity, square pegs/round holes, poor transfers, beatings by better teams….etc

  4. Hahaha I just don’t get it. Arsenal is a joke. We get beat by Watford at home, Chelsea, Liverpool and West Brom 3-1 away, smashed in the CL 10-2 on aggregate and Wenger gets a new 2 year deal. Seriously, what the f@#k is going on?

  5. Lord please , Let this all be a made up story…Let it be a summertime dream…
    .
Let Mr. potato Head not sign a new contract and Let Sanchez stay on!…
    .
    Amen!

  6. wenger will die at our club i feel . he will he here , in some capacity or other , until he drops. dont get me wrong, i do not wish the man any ill will , but i am just saying there is no getting rid of him now . i am just going to laugh at arsenal from now until le prof-it is no more. there is nothing more to do, wenger is untouchable .

  7. What hope? Another lie for the board to make more money in the next 2 years again. Nothing will change under Wenger.
