He stated, “I think they’ll challenge, I just think they may fall short again.” He praised the club’s transfer activity, saying, “I like all of their signings. I think that’s exactly what they needed. And I still don’t think they may be finished yet in terms of bringing players in and certainly players going out.”

Despite his reservations about Arsenal’s ability to clinch the title, Shearer confirmed that he expects them to qualify for the Champions League. He added, “I’ve definitely got them in Champions League but I just don’t see them having enough to win the title. Just fall short.”

Bring Eberechi Eze in, then I promise you EPL and one other trophy is ours
I see on Sky that spurs are interested in Eze, and apparently he is not averse to the idea.
He will have more game time there with Maddison injured (although he is better than Maddison anyway).
Hope this is not true!
I’ve seen many pundits predict where the league’s top dogs will finish in the table, abd not many have given Arsenal a chance to end the season as champions, so Shearer’s predictions are not a tad surprising!
But in my opinion, I really don’t see why Arsenal won’t win the league this season. Putting last season into perspective, yes, Liverpool won it, not because they were too good for anyone else, but because the chasers weren’t consistent enough.
Man City had a wretched campaign, while Arsenal’s was ruined by injuries to key players and inconsistent refereeing with Liverpool having a free ride in both of those aspects
This season though, yes, Liverpool have spent hugely on new players, but I don’t think they’ve really strengthened as much as people think! They’ve signed Jeremy Frimpong who despite being a very good player, I don’t think he’s an upgrade on Alexander-Arnold. Florian Wirtz is wonderful and I think he’ll do really well and that’s quite an addition. Hugo Ekitike is very talented too, but I don’t think he’s any more prolific than Diogo Jota who went to be with his Lord!
They also lost Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez. In spite of the new signings, Liverpool look weaker than last season especially with the defense lacking in terms of quality and depth. We all saw how van Dijk struggled v Crystal Palace
As for Arsenal, I think they look stronger after their transfer business. They’ve bolstered a defense that’s been the best in the league fir the past two years, with the arrival of Cristhian Mosquera. The arrival of Viktor Gyökeres will no doubt bring the goals that were hard to come by last season. Noni Madueke adds speed, trickery, versatility and dynamism to an attack already boosted by the arrival of the prolific Swede, while Martín Zubimendi will bring a whole new aura of finesse and fluidity to Arsenal’s midfield. Norgaard will add sturdiness while Kepa brings more quality and competition in goal.
The arrival of those players opens up great depth with Havertz, Martinelli, Trossard, Merino, Nwaneri and Jesus all offering serious options in terms of rotation.
With better luck on the injury front, Arsenal look to have built the most balanced and arguably the strongest squad going into the new season. Having finished 2nd three seasons on the trot, I think Mikel Arteta’s mean have all it takes to go one better this season
I agree with most of what you have said.
However firstly, I think Ekitike is an upgrade to the late Jota (may he rest in peace). We may not see this right at the beginning of the season but I think it will show as the season progresses.
Secondly, yes injuries did have a massive effect on our season, however I will not blame “refereeing inconsistencies”, this really bugs me when it is brought up. Every team will say they had the wrong side of the calls, it just depends who’s lens you are looking through.
