Arsenal at Risk of Losing Palace Star to Spurs After Fresh Talks

Arsenal are widely expected to sign one more player before the transfer window closes, with many believing Eberechi Eze will be their final addition of the summer. However, the Gunners face the prospect of missing out on their key target as rivals reignite their interest.

The Gunners have already spent just under £200 million on six new recruits. As a result, Andrea Berta has been tasked with trimming the squad, with players such as Oleksandr Zinchenko, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Reiss Nelson among those who could be moved on. Arsenal are expected to sanction their departures before bringing in another signing, but they may have to act quickly if they want to secure Eze’s signature.

Spurs reignite Eze pursuit

According to Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are back in talks for Eze, which should serve as a wake-up call for the Gunners. Spurs are also pushing for Manchester City’s Savinho but have reignited their pursuit of the Crystal Palace forward following a serious injury to James Maddison and the departure of Heung-Min Son. Romano reports that Eze is “keen” on the move, but any deal hinges on Crystal Palace as his release clause has already expired.

With both clubs now expected to go head-to-head for his signature, neither will want to face the risk of rejection in favour of their rival, setting up a possible game of cat and mouse between two fierce competitors.

Palace chairman on Eze’s future

Eze featured in Crystal Palace’s Community Shield win on Sunday, and chairman Steve Parish was quizzed on the futures of both Eze and Marc Guehi. Speaking via Goal, he said:

“Yeah of course, but listen, players come and go in football clubs. I mean it’s a life cycle isn’t it? Hopefully they’ll still be here, that’s what I’d like. But we’ll see.”

His comments suggest the player could still move this summer, but Arsenal must act fast or face the prospect of missing out on a key target to their arch north London rivals..

Should Arsenal spend big on Eze?

Thoughts Gooners?

  1. Arsenal must be clear whether they way want Eze or not. There seems to be confusion with Rodrygo, who quite frankly is not going to deliver in the EPL. If he couldn’t impress in Spain, he’s no match to Eze,. Proven EPL and homegrown Arsenal player. No comparison there.

    1. Rodrygo is likely better as a pure left winger but yeah, he’s no match for Eze in many other attacking respects as well as likely making whoever is playing a left winger role much better than they would otherwise be.

  2. The Signing of Eze would better suit Martineli, though he can and plays on the left wing he’s better suited central where captain Odegaard operates .

But for some strange reason though Arsenal is aware and appreciate the skill set of Eze, there doesn’t seem a clear understanding how to utilize him.

  3. Arsenal should absolutely sign Eze.He is Premier League proven and his versatility gives Arsenal the options that they need particularly when faced with the now “traditional deep block” that do many opponents are exhibiting…It was far more important to bring in Eze than.it was Madueke and should he end up going “up the road” …then this will be nothing short of a disgrace!!!

  4. Do we even want Eze? Were we lining him up if Nwaneri didn’t sign? I’d love us to get him, and then in two or three seasons, Nwaneri and Dowman can take over, but I’m not sure Arsenal will see it that way
