Arsenal fans can’t blame Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang for stalling on a new deal

It cannot be a surprise that Aubameyang is not ready to sign a contract extension.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang remains one of the most lethal attackers in world football and he entered this campaign having won the Golden Boot last season. However, his contract will enter it’s final year next summer and to date, he has held back signing a new deal.

He has scored eight times for the Gunners already this season and they are keen to keep him because his goals are absolutely crucial to the club going forward.

However, Aubameyang doesn’t appear keen on renewing his current Arsenal contract and I can understand that.
Next summer, the Gabonese attacker turns 31, he is already at the peak of his career and should be among Europe’s elites scoring goals in the Champions League.

He probably has less than three more seasons at the top of the football pyramid before his career comes to an end and in all honesty, Arsenal fans should understand if he leaves them for more silverware opportunities.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have reportedly been linked with moves for him. Any of those teams would be an upgrade for Aubameyang and he genuinely has the talents to thrive for them in La Liga and Europe.

Arsenal’s quest for ending the season inside the top four has already been made even tougher as they have an eight points deficit on the top four already and Aubameyang cannot be accused of having not tried his best.

Then there is the situation with the manager, he is clearly unhappy, that can be seen in his body language and his recent performances.

There have already been rumours that he will not sign any deal while the Spaniard remains in charge.

So, the manager, lack of Champions League football and his age all combined are very strong reasons why he may want a new challenge.
