Arsenal finally wants to rescue Serie A outcast

Arsenal are reportedly preparing a late move for Ademola Lookman as the Nigerian forward’s future at Atalanta grows increasingly uncertain. The attacker has been refusing to play for the Italian side this season after expressing his desire to leave, and his situation remains unresolved.

Lookman had been strongly linked with a move to Inter Milan earlier in the summer, but despite the club submitting a bid for his signature, Atalanta rejected the offer. Following the rejection, Inter decided against returning with an improved bid, leaving the player in limbo. His refusal to train or play under Atalanta’s new manager has added further tension, as he makes it clear that he does not wish to continue with the Bergamo side.

Arsenal’s Potential Interest

With Atalanta and Lookman still searching for a solution, Arsenal have now emerged as a possible destination. The Gunners remain active in the transfer market and continue to be linked with further signings despite an already significant level of investment in their squad. According to Caught Offside, the Gunners could make a late move to bring Lookman back to England, where he previously played for Everton, Fulham and Leicester City.

Lookman’s success in recent seasons, particularly in Serie A, has boosted his reputation as a dynamic attacker capable of influencing games from the flanks. However, the question remains as to whether Arsenal truly need him at this stage. The squad is already well-stocked with wide players, especially on the left wing, and Arteta may prefer to prioritise reinforcements in other areas of the pitch.

A Transfer That Raises Questions

Should Arsenal proceed with a formal offer, the deal would inevitably raise questions about squad balance and long-term planning. Lookman’s arrival would add competition to an already crowded position, potentially limiting opportunities for established players and academy prospects alike. While his quality is unquestioned, the signing may be viewed as unnecessary given the options already available to Arteta.

Ultimately, Lookman’s future depends on whether Atalanta is willing to sanction his departure and whether Arsenal view him as a genuine fit for their current squad needs. The coming days will determine whether this late transfer speculation translates into decisive action.

  1. “a genuine fit for their current squad needs?”

Before Eze, the answer was yes, now with Eze to play support striker instead (Lookman goals last season did not come from left wing but centrally, foil to the 9, the same support striker role Arteta will use Eze in) the answer is no.

Would Lookman have played support striker for Arsenal better than Eze can? The answer is absolutely yes.

      1. Well,if Gyorkeres suddenly goes out of commission for whatever reason,Eze is probably the next best thing to a Striker in the team, currently.

        1. Doubtful. It would most likely be Merino again. According to The Athletic, Eze has played just 1% of his total games in the last five seasons as a striker. I’m not saying he couldn’t do it, but that he rarely has.

  2. Though many may argue that Lookman’s goals last season were majorly centrally but it’s well noted that his a natural left winger who will bring an upgrade to the left wing.
Eze and Lookman can feature in the same game with Eze playing behind the striker and Lookman on the left.
Much needed rotation is needed baring that we are competing on all fours.
Time, will come where you need a strong 💪 squad rotation within a because of European competition. Besides, the semi finals and finals of cup games need utmost attention because we must ensure to grab as much as possible trophy 🏆 our hands can reach.
Lookman is a fit despite who is already in the squad.

    HOW DOES THIS LINEUP LOOK?

THIS WILL SEND FEAR INTO LIVERPOOL EVEN WITH ISAK OR MADRID OR BARCA

I wanted EZE and LOOKMAN as the major signings before the renewal of TROSSARDs contract… MARTINELLI and TROSSARD are not adequate upgrade on the left, as we are not dangerous on the left wing even with Noni MADUEKE playing there.

LOOKMAN IS a natural quality left winger and also can defend if need be…I would strongly advise once again to BERTA just as I did for EZE.

Please get LOOKMAN on loan with an obligation to buy or signing him outright ASAP….LOOKMAN will surely raise the quality of other players in our team…I prefer we have a strong quality lineup / bench before the end of the transfer window.
LOOKMAN IS another gift to ARSENAL FC and I believe Berta knows quality and opportunity when It arises.

Let’s sell nelson, ZINCHENKO, kiwior, Lokonga and VIEIRA and if possible MARTINELLI in order to fund this transfer…I love MARTINELLI but going forward he can’t get back his scoring ability at the moment….so if we can move him to Saudi …and cash in on him.. that will be great.

Let’s get LOOKMAN and our window will be a 10/10

  4. I Perfectly Agree to his views as stated and analysed. Get Lookman as urgent as possible. It will make a Big Boost in our Quest for the Trophies this Season. I Love and Thank You All.

  5. No doubt, Ademola Lookman, will be a great addition that will send fear to our opponents. Berta should please get him because his coming will help make our team more formidable and competitive. It is our season, I believe! Good luck to Arteta and co. Win Arsenal! Win! We can’t wait. Gooner for life.
