Arsenal Target’s Fee Slashed in Major Boost to Summer Move

For many, if Rodrygo were wise, he would have already been pushing for a Real Madrid exit.

With fierce competition for places and no guaranteed game time, the Brazilian winger is at risk of being wasted at Los Blancos.

While it is believed Madrid would entertain offers for his services, none have arrived. Their demand of as much as €100 million for Rodrygo is wildly ambitious, a figure most of his suitors are simply not willing to pay.

So, do the La Liga giants still hope to sell him for such inflated figures?

Rodrygo’s Price May Not Be as High as First Thought

Transfer guru Ben Jacobs argues not, noting:

“Some people at Real hint this €90 million (£78.5m) number is not actually as rigid as was first implied at the beginning of the window, and maybe somewhere closer to €70 million (£61.1m) might even get him out the door.

That’s actually an excellent bit of business, I think, and offsets some of the cost affiliated to the player wage and the agent fees. So let’s kind of wait and see how it develops.”

Arsenal Given Fresh Encouragement in Rodrygo Pursuit

Arsenal, having been heavily linked with Rodrygo’s services, should find such updates encouraging. It should have them thinking: maybe this can be done. However, the most recent reports suggest the player has opted to stay put at Real Madrid.

Being a World Cup year, Rodrygo would surely want to be playing week in, week out. By now, he should have realised he is not blessed with many options in terms of where he could realistically go.

He wants to play in his favourite position: left wing. With Arsenal’s left flank up for grabs, surely there is little left to consider.

The Gunners desperately need a left winger. Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard have failed to impress, and there are question marks over Noni Madueke’s suitability on the left flank.

Failing to address such a clear area of concern, especially with updates like this potential price drop, would be a big gamble.

I think we’ll be talking about Rodrygo right up until the transfer window closes.

What are your thoughts on this drawn-out transfer saga?

  1. I’m not sure, talking to Spanish friends, that Rodrygo wants to leave Real Madrid, but they’re sure RM would like him to go.

So far, RM have spent around £125m, not huge for them, but nevertheless they’ll be looking to recoup some of that. Currently, there doesn’t seem to be many/any other obvious options more likely than Rodrygo to do that.

Whether that means, as the article suggests, RM will actually cut his price that substantially to push a sale through remains to be seen.

  2. This deal can be very easy to pull off, if he’s been contacted by Mikel and the recruitment staff. I bet £50 million will be enough to bring Rodrygo to North london.

    1. I hope you’re right, but I doubt Real Madrid will let Rodrygo go for that amount, which is very low. RM rarely “give” players away.

  3. That said, i think we seriously need to act fast on sales, because it is hindering literally everything as far as the upcoming campaign is concerned. Even if it means we sell cheap, because we are on the wrong end of negotiation table. This is not the time to be prudent. Eze and Rodrygo, then we good to go.

  4. Arsenal should keep negotiating and get the deal done, so Rodrygo could finally sign for Arsenal. He is a fantastic player that will help Arsenal finally secure the Premier League title, and to help Martinelli and Trossard improve.

  5. If we can afford him, we should seriously consider going for it.

    – More creative than Nelli, gives us more options
    – At his best with a centre forward that runs in the left center channel (re: Benzema, Mbappe… Gyok)
    – Good defensively
    – Apparently a selfless non-complainer
    – Can also play on the right if needed

  6. Yes we need him but my concern is the way arsenal do drug transfer for too long, if a player is identified and the club wants him, go for him negotiate and pay. We need quality in the club because winning cups does not come cheap. Another issue have noticed is Arteta need to know how to select his match day squad we’ll and not select a player because he loves him but because of the quality that’s in a player this time round we have a team that we believe will fight for trophies.

  7. Would be good if he come.. and the same if he don’t. Arsenal has everything in the squad.. Arteta only need to let them into his 25 player and play his style of play..

  8. The team is not bad just recall last season moments uefa and the premeir league were arsenal found themselves better than many many teams in eroupe as whole and changes in the squad for new transfers means a lot to the team arsenal is going for it rydrigo is good for him coming its his dream come true to be in strongest team in whole European countries
